I've always been a soft touch for his telepathic, bullet-proof barflies, but this wouldn't be the right place to start (that would be _Callahan's Crosstime Saloon_). I find them hilarious and entertaining, but consider yourself warned: here there be puns. On the same trip to Border's (I know, bad me), I also snagged a copy of Heinlein's latest/first novel, _For Us, the Living_. Oughtta be interesting. If you don't want to be on this list anymore, just mail me back and tell me so. No grudges, I swear! If you live in the St. Louis vicinity, or will be visiting there over the holidays...I'll be playing a show at The Way Out Club (2525 S. Jefferson, St. Louis, MO) on Saturday, December 27. This is a solo show (but, "solo" doesn't mean "soft", or "soothing", or "paralyzed"...) I'll be playing LOTS of new material from my new album. The album (that I started recording last week) has a central theme that I'm very excited and pleased about. We will be finished recording and mixing by the end of January (as we are taking a holiday break). The "we" I'm referring to is drummer, Jeff White, and bassist/producer, Tony Visconti. I'll have a couple of other guest players, too. Also, in 2004, I'll be playing in the U.S. again (obviously...per the subject matter of this e-mail). This past year, besides a small unannounced show in August at Frederick's Music Lounge in St. Louis, I didn't play in the U.S. I was playing in Portugal and London all year (Portugal because my album, "Breasticles" was released there in June, and London because I'm having a love affair with that city). Sorry about this long message, I can assure you that most future messages will be more concise. There is a small, un-revelatory review of a new Eisley ep, also. Bye, Lyle _________________________________________________________________ Worried about inbox overload? Heh. I enjoyed this article (http://www.dallasobserver.com/issues/2003-12-25/music.html/1/index.html). For one thing, I was delighted to discover when it comes to mainstream hits I am just as clueless as those supposedly clueless parents. I have only vaguest idea about a couple of the names, no idea at all about others, and certainly didn't recognise any of the titles. I must be doing something right to be so ignorant. Go me! And they just about summed up my feelings about rap: "To me, rap is all about lyrics, because the beats are so simplistic, but when I can't even understand what's being said..."
