A relatively recent funny book that I read was "Happiness(tm)" by Will Ferguson. The basic plot is, what would happen if one of those self-help make-everyone-happy books actually worked? For a fantasy series, Terry Pratchett's "Discworld" books are somewhere between good and fantastic. My favourite in the series is "Small Gods". Speaking of Pratchett, and since the original poster mentioned Gaiman, they co-wrote "Good Omens". Someday, Terry Gilliam will actually get around to turning it into the long-promised movie. I re-read that one once a year or so. I recently discovered Christopher Buckley. The first book that I read was "Little Green Men", which tells us that the government really is behind the alien sightings reported over the years. Okay, so the targets that it skewers are pretty easy, but it's still hysterical. I'll stop now ... /nm ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V9 #359 **************************
