I'm in Fort Worth, have been a Happy fan for a long time (even traveled to Philly once just to see her in concert). I've been dying to see her play down here. I have a suggestion: The Jefferson Freedom Cafe in Fort Worth. It's similar to Uncle Calvin's ... but they do shows only once a month. It always has really good crowds for whatever show it has because of its faithful audience (100-250 people per show). It's in a Unitarian Church. The Cafe is run completely by volunteers, so they always pay the artist and the musicians, and then all the other proceeds go to charities. This past Saturday night was Christine Lavin. I know the guy who runs it if anyone wants me to give a contact .... Cheers, Mark Lowry n.p. Tori, "Hey Jupiter" maxi single n.r. "Peninsula of Lies," Edward Ball Lyle Rita was wondering about Happy coming to Texas. I live in Denton and would love to have her do a house concert here, but we couldn't squeeze too many people into my duplex (and the preparatory cleaning would be a six-month task). I have suggested to Happy and posse that Dan's Bar, here, would be the equivalent of a living room concert. I can't imagine Dan not wanting to host her. I also suggested Uncle Calvin's in Dallas, but that sort of thing couldn't be done at the drop of a hat. Uncle Calvin's has high-octane people coming and going on a regular basis and they thus probably have a schedule set in stone for six months to a year. If anyone in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area wants to do a house concert, I would be happy to help. Ms. Rhodes was frequently played on KERA (Dallas) in the 90's so she is not an unknown commodity here. Yes, there are Texas ecotpians. I thing Gshell is a Texan, too. And there are several Texans out there who have abandoned the homeland for lesser states north of the Red River border. I would be thrilled to host Happy & Co. in a house concert. I live in a loft near downtown Dallas and I could create a pretty large clear space with little effort. And yes, Lyle, Dan's bar would be an excellent space, too. I'm amenable to helping arrange things for the show, beit in my home or anyone else's. As per neal's post I'll contact Ken and let him know about my willingness to host. Rita _________________________________________________________________ Need a shot of Hank Williams or Patsy Cline? Because of his almost 18 years, his odds aren't very high when it comes to the anesthesia. But he's a fighter and I think he'd still like to be around (as long as there's food to be had) Anyway if you're in to it, candles, prayers, or thoughts would be much appreciated. Mass energies can do amazing things. So if you think of it, give Ol' Barney a nod and a smile tomorrow and perhaps we can up his odds. (or stick on Warpaint and remember him through Terra Incognita) Love to you all and thank you for considering this.
