I'm optimistic. MP3.com has been a spiraling mess for a long time. CNET looks, to me at least, like good guys. They do CNET news and, perhaps more importantly, download.com pretty well, and I think they may have the Net and business savvy to turn MP3.com back into something useful. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Nov 2003 08:48:07 -0500 From: "Cynthia Conrad" Subject: Re: Cnet acquires mp3.com Joseph Zitt wrote: > I'm optimistic. Something's up with IUMA, too. Their charts have been down for five days and there are no artist stats. I read a rumor somewhere that they are no longer accepting new artists, they've cut email support and their parent company, VitaminC, is in trouble. Instead, the company plans to turn MP3.com into a source of information for digital music. CNET Networks believes MP3.com can attract an audience similar to visitors of its GameSpot Web site, which features video game reviews and downloads. The company did not announce a timeframe for its planned relaunch of MP3.com but said it is interested in connecting with artists and record companies that have previously distributed their music via the site.
