ARISTA also scrapped another limited DVD/CD release as well that they had announced at the same time (i think it was TONY BRAXTON but i can't be sure). anyway there is no guarantee that ARISTA might not decide down the road to RERELEASE the CD with a bonus DVD (VIRGIN RECORDS did that with JANET JACKSON's ALL 4 U, in which they released the CD and then rereleased the CD with the bonus remix of SON OF GUN that featured P DIDDY and MISSY ELLIOT after the remix did well in the singles charts, and then RE-RERELEASE the CD with yet an additional bonus track - yet a another version of SON OF GUN - along with a DVD of JANET videos). seeing as how SARAH's tends to go awhile between releasing music, and has a habit of recycling a lot of her stuff (freedom session, mirrorball, SARAH MCLACHLAN remixed) i would NOT be surprised if six months to a year down the road ARISTA decided to milk her fans by re-releasing AFTERGLOW with a bonus DVD. anyway it's a moot point for me as i don't plan on getting the album, especially after hearing everyone talk about it on this list. i found SURFACING rather bland, and FALLEN sounded SOOO boring to me. give me SOLACE/FUMBLING anyday. but then old SARAH fans always say that right? heh. The current issue of Dirty Linen magazine has a very brief mention of Happy in a review of Bob Holroyd's album "Without Within." Also, the August/September issue had a cover story on Ruthie Foster and Cyd Cassone (meth & woj!) If you've never seen it, Dirty Linen is a fine, well produced magazine, published bi-monthly that covers "Folk & World Music" but frequently gets into Blues and roots type music and occasionally sneaks up on ecto. There seems to be a lot of Jane Siberry coverage and an once in a while, a Kate review. They have a tour schedules section that's worth the (cheap) subscription price (22.00/yr.). The reviews are submitted by listeners, mostly. If I were trying to get noticed as a musician, seems to me that I'd try to get meself into this magazine somehow... ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 12 Nov 2003 11:12:10 -0500 From: Laura Clifford Subject: Weird, cool and unexpected Kate placement I was at a screening of "Tupac: Resurrected" last night (very good doc, all narrated by Tupac himself, beautifully put together) and during his school days at a Baltimore school for the performing arts as he spoke about the music that he was exposed to they played "Wuthering Heights," accompanied by pix of Tupac in ballet gear and a closeup of his handwritten list with Kate Bush noted.... This, as opposed to the "studio" Happy, that might seem a bit much for folks who can't picture how she could possibly do both superbly! In other words,I'm thinking of it as a marketing tool for future gigs as much as something for fans to enjoy. You might even be able to pre-sell copies to us hard-core fans in order to cover production and duplication costs.Thinking big ( as I always tend to do ) a series of evening performances done over one weekend and shot with three cameras could be quite nice.Plenty of volunteers I'm sure. The audience as videographers!!!! Sounds interesting. Mini dv imported into a decent editing station and then, take the best songs from three performances. Audio could be captured to separate multitrack and laid back to the video as a final two channel mix. Equipment donations might even be had by local suppliers for a mention in the final product. Does get the juices going doesn't it!!!
