Venue concerts are great, but the spine tingling feeling of being mere feet away from an Ecto goddess (*THE* Ecto goddess) hearing THAT Voice, in an intimate setting, is indescribably sublime. She sang Kate. She said it was for me. I cried. Be still my heart. Wow. meth and woj and others, you *will* hear it, have no fear. Happy knows it too. I also took dozens of photographs. Give us a few days to get the setup, set up. (after Kenosha and Chicago) Lynn, thank you for hosting it. Your house is beautiful. Everything was beautiful. Alberto, thank you for driving us. We made it to Toledo! (the state of Ohio does NOT want people to go to Toledo, so they removed all the signs telling you about it) On time! (we forgot about the change from Central time to Eastern and JUST made it...thought we were early!) We made it out of Toledo! (once there, they don't want you to leave, and so removed all the signs telling you how to get out). On the way home we listened to Noe Venable's Secret Knots, Jorane, Eddi Reader's Mirmama, Zoe's Hammer, and KaTe's The Dreaming. It was a perfect day. Must sleep now. Kind of a broad definition of "breakup", I think. Still, a site worth losing yourself in. adam k. - ----------------------------------------------- This mail sent through http://webmail.zoom.co.uk ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Nov 2003 01:35:57 -0800 (PST) From: alberto carrasco Subject: Happy-Toledo-11/9/03 photos Thank you, Happy, Bob, Hansford & Bon... and, of course, Lynn & Todd, for an evening to be filed away in the psychic archives... and treasured always. http://www.villagephotos.com/pubbrowse.asp?selected=598212 __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Just a note on the DVDs, as yet another Buffyholic: if I'm remembering correctly from cruising the DVD forums, a fair number of folks in R1 (North America) who bought the R2 (Europe) discs experienced various problems, even with supposedly region-free players. As a result, much though I'd like to have, say, the musical from Season 6 on DVD *yesterday*, I've resigned myself to waiting until the R1 discs come out next year. Yeah, Amazon warns me whenever I buy an American DVD that it may not play in my multi-region player due to new encoding. However, they've all played fine... You just gotta check your chip. :) Multi-region players are more common in Europe anyway... Ellen ===== "Literature stops in 1100. I'm embarrassed to admit to having been a HR fan for nearly 10 years and not seen her live till now; but it was worth the wait. I know everyone's talked about her wicked sense of humor before, but I had to stick my head in the kitchen a couple of times to avoid people hearing the unseemly snorting noises. If I wasn't already addicted to living room shows, I surely would be now. Oh, and the tape came out beautifully (I spot-checked last night). It was the first time I'd seen them since.... last year?! Yikes. Granted, there haven't been a whole lot of Chanting House shows in the area over the past year, but that still seems like a really long time. Anyway, the lineup this time was Susan, Jon Spurney, Lindsey Horner and Joe Bonadio. I'd almost forgotten just how great a Chanting House show could be, and this one was spectacular. There were plenty of ectophiles there to enjoy it too, including woj, Meredith, John, Paul and Jennifer. Here's the set list: Love It Is A Killing Thing Wheels of the World Black is the Colour Fuck You Lowlands [a song about a graveyard] Prophecy She's Leaving Home Be Brave Love Be Strong In London So Fair Because I Could Not Stop For Death River South Curiouser The song about the graveyard was something short that Susan just launched into from her between-song chatting. The cover of "She's Leaving Home" was something I had only heard her do once before, in a show with just her and Lindsey (which is how she did it this time), and Susan dedicated it to my friend Jennifer for her birthday. I think it safe to say that Jennifer though it was a pretty good birthday gift. And speaking of birthdays, on the way out we got to chat with (well, at) Susan's charming daughter Rsismn, who was on the eve of her first birthday. This was the last Chanting House show for this year, though Susan will be out on the road with Johnny Cunningham (and Aidan Brennan) for their annual holiday roadshow. There's talk of a possible Chanting House show on January 9th at Fez though, so I'd recommend keeping that night free if you're in the NYC area. I know I plan to be there!
