Happily, we have reservations to see her at the Stanhope House in NJ this Thursday, with 19-year old Tyler Hilton opening. I've never been to that venue but the description on its eponymous web site sounds really interesting, so we're especially looking forward to seeing it. Plus the price for the Vienna's full-length, headlining set is less than half what The Bottom Line charged on Friday night (and that's assuming you only wanted to stay for just one of the two sets). Speaking of The Bottom Line, if I have to step foot into that club one last time before it gets shuttered, it might as well be for a Happy Rhodes show - - so count me in on Tuesday. At least I'll know at least some of my money will be going towards a good cause - namely, Happy's career. :) Dan Meredith wrote: >Hi, > >woj and I saw Vienna Teng open for Robyn Hitchcock last night at The >Bottom Line. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 2 Nov 2003 03:00:02 -0500 (EST) From: Mike Matthews Subject: Today's your birthday, friend... i*i*i*i*i*i i*i*i*i*i*i *************** *****HAPPY********* **************BIRTHDAY********* *************************************************** *************************************************************************** ******************* Katie Dougiamas (no Email address) ******************** *************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- - -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Katie Dougiamas Sat November 02 1974 Scorpio Anthony Horan Fri November 04 1966 Positive Michael Sullivan Mon November 05 1962 Scorpio Anna Pryde Wed November 05 1975 Scorpio Sun; Sagittarius Moon; Pisces Rising Jens Brage Sun November 08 1964 Scorpio Rising Lynn Garrett Sat November 08 1958 Scorpio Sam Murgie Fri November 08 1957 Scorpio Rachel Kramer Bussel Mon November 10 1975 Scorpio Neb Rodgers Tue November 10 1959 Space Available - Inquire Within Ken Latta Sun November 11 1951 Scorpio Craig Gidney November 11 Scorpio Michael Doyle Wed November 12 1969 Scorpio Marla Tiara Tue November 13 1973 Scorpio Dave Cook Mon November 15 1971 Scorpio Jeff Pearce November 16 Orpheus Naama Avramzon Mon November 18 1974 Scorpio Jeff Smith Mon November 19 1962 Crash Kevin Bartlett Fri November 21 1952 Scorpio Claudia Spix Wed November 23 1960 Schuetze Anja Baldo Tue November 23 1965 Garbanzo Tommy Persson Wed November 25 1964 Sagittarius Pat Tessitore November 26 Sagittarius Valerie Kraemer November 26 Sagittarius Justin Bur Fri November 27 1964 Sagittarius Sue Trowbridge Sun November 27 1966 Skytten Ward Kadel Tue November 29 1977 Sagittarius Jesse Hernandez Liwag Wed November 29 1972 Water Rat Mirko Bulaja Sat November 30 1974 Block Juha Sorva Thu December 02 1976 Sagittarius - -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 2 Nov 2003 09:06:26 -0000 From: "neal copperman" Subject: Happy at the Tin Angel, Part 1 Happy Good (twice) Neal sleepy ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 02 Nov 2003 12:25:54 -0500 From: meredith Subject: Re: Vienna at The Bottom Line Hi, >We skipped The Bottom Line show due to conflicting Halloween plans and >typical Bottom Line price gouging -- Meredith, did you note how long >Vienna performed for each set? She did seven songs, which came in at just more than half an hour, which was very respectable for an opener. Usually openers get 5 songs or 20 minutes, whichever comes first. Please note, though, that we were there to see Robyn Hitchcock as well -- and he went way over his allotted time, much to the annoyance of the stage manager. I understand balking at the price, but to me sometimes it's more important to support the artists who deserve to be supported, no matter what. Vienna falls solidly into that category, so I had no problem shelling out for the tickets. Meg Griffin of Sirius Radio hosted the show, since the whole night was recorded and will be broadcast on their live music channel next weekend (if there are any Sirius customers out there, take note) ... she mentioned one very interesting thing, which really struck me in light of the article about the Kendall Cafe that JeffW posted the other day. It's that the Bottom Line is an independent entity, and if it goes away that will just leave a space which Clear Channel will almost certainly fill. That kind of shifted me more in favor of wanting to see the Bottom Line succeed. At least we've had the opportunity to see Susan McKeown, Vienna Teng, Happy Rhodes and Anne Heaton within the space of two weeks -- I don't expect any of those people to ever grace the stage of a Clear Channel venue unless the universe undergoes an unprecedented paradigm shift and suddenly good music is what fills the charts. =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://muzak.smoe.org =============================================== ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 2 Nov 2003 10:42:01 -0700 From: "Peter Clark" Subject: Re: new Katell Keinig single/EP available Did it.
