I am a *huge* Firefly fan. I loved both the characters (except Jayne, who was often funny - see the episode where the doctor was kidnapped) and the dialog, which often had me simply howling with laughter. I also will always wonder about The Shepherd. I have also found this show as rewatchable as any show since Babylon5 (which had to be reviewed to figure stuff out as the context was reserved) Just so there is a more ecto-related tie in, although I haven't seen many shows in a while, I did get a chance to see Grey Eye Glances, who played at the Muse at the Gray Goose in Londonderry - about 1/2 mile from my new home! It was a splendid evening, and I will be dropping back in to see more of the shows there www.musegraygoose.com > Ethan posted: > > >Thoughts on FIREFLY...as a sci-fi fan and certified Buffyholic, I really > >wanted to like it, to the extent that I kept watching well after I had > >decided that it just didn't click with me and probably wouldn't. > and Meredith replied... > > Just to post an alternate opinion ... CNBC airs Conan O'Brien on Sunday nights, and we caught the last few minutes a bit ago -- saw Eastmountainsouth perform. I bought the CD based on that show." I'm glad you're enjoying the cd! It's my favorite of the year so far, and I haven't been able to rave about it here because I don't know quite how to describe it. It's kind of rootsy, kind of folksy, but has modern influences, a great blend. It sounds kind of timeless to me, contemporary, and yet like the songs could have been written years ago. I'd recommend to any fans of folk/acoustic music Samples at their website http://www.eastmountainsouth.com and check out their archived Morning Becomes Eclectic performance at http://www.kcrw.org It aired June 19. Also, Beth Orton has 2 new releases I haven't seen anyone mention yet: The Other Side of Daybreak, an album of live versions (Carmella) and remixes of songs from Daybreaker and some new tracks (I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet) that didn't make the album. It starts off with her cover of "Ooh Child" which I know was mentioned here. There's also a 2 disc best-of set, Pass In Time: The Definitive Collection, which has album and non-album tracks and remixes. Speaking of best-of sets, Tori is finishing off her Atlantic contract by releasing one next month (11/18): Tales of a Librarian with bonus DVD (I hope it's better than the one that came with Scarlet's Walk). I haven't seen the track listing yet. Does anyone know if it's strictly album stuff or if it has other musical goodies?
