She's really into Southern literature like Faulkner and Welty, and her songs have sort of a narrative, regional quality that's pretty unique and imaginative. And yeah, great musicians. joe and ellen music: http://www.jotdot.net/joeandellen http://www.mp3.com/joeandellen ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 14 Oct 2003 22:55:52 -0700 From: CDavis Subject: Vienna Hi folks, I finally had a chance to see Vienna Teng last night at the Ark in Ann Arbor. What a great show, the most fun I've had at a concert since Jonatha Brooke. She really engages the audience in the whole thing. I don't recall anyone mentioning a singalong on "Soon Love Soon", but even that came off well. She's a very nice, friendly person too. I don't think I babbled much when I had a chance to chat with her. She did a few songs I hadn't heard before that I'm guessing are going to be on the new album in February....can't wait to hear it. Anyway, just had to gush a little. Based on the newer stuff I've heard from Vienna, I'm actually preparing for a second-album slump. _Under the Pink_ was still a damn good album, though...and *sure*, I'll draw the parallels...
