Subject: Matthew Jay I've just read in Drowned In Sound webzine that Matthew Jay, who made the fantastic album "Draw", has died after a fall from a seventh-floor window. Chances are he may have killed himself. It's been a year of tragedies and, while this is far from a personal one, it saddens me beyond belief that such a talented man could die so young. "Draw" is a lovely, bitter-sweet album, filled with the sound of sunshine breaking through the clouds. I never dreamt it would be his last. My thoughts go out to his family and friends. He's left us his music and it lives on. A minute's silence, please or -- better yet -- get "Draw" and put it on and think of Matthew. yours, adam k. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 6 Oct 2003 04:16:14 -0700 From: "The Ectophiles' Guide" Subject: Recent changes to the Ectophiles' Guide Latest changes to the Ectophiles' Guide 05 October 2003 New Guide entries added for: * Lori Hawk * Tish Hinojosa * Various Artists: Bi The People Changes made to the entries for: * Terami Hirsch (additional comments) - -------------------------------------------------------------------------- You are receiving this email because you have asked to be notified of updates to the Ectophiles' Guide to Good Music at http://www.smoe.org/ectoguide/. I wasn't that taken with him live, but I liked what I heard of his album - he definitely had something. I actually think it's the best thing she's done so far - and quite different in some ways from her earlier releases. If you have in any way been touched by the music of George Harrison, go see this movie. It is an amazing and beautiful tribute to the man, his life and his music. It features loving and moving performances from family (his son Dhani) and his many friends (Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Jeff Lynne, Tom Petty, Ravi Shankar and many others). There is also some wonderful humor from the Python crew. Seeing this movie was a very emotional experience for Billi and me. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 6 Oct 2003 21:44:50 EDT From: FAMarcus@aol.com Subject: Re: HAPPY APPEARANCE In a message dated 10/6/03 9:22:26 PM Eastern Daylight Time, mcurry@io.com writes: > Ah well....I'm less than > fond of the Tin Angel anyway. > > i am a little curious what your reason for that is as i've found it the best place that i've ever seen an act at. its almost a living room concert. fred ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 6 Oct 2003 22:15:39 EDT From: CptBryant@aol.com Subject: Happy Rhodes Tour Dates for Fall There may be more coming, but we wanted to get these up ASAP.
