I've noticed that the Chemical Brothers have a "Greatest Hits" compilation out. And these guys, who've made a living out of sampling and ripping other people's sounds, have put their name to an album that is, indeed....copyright protected. I only had a chance to play it a couple of times but I believe we're onto a winner here - if not my CD of the Year, then definitely a contender for the title. "Juniper", "Black Madonna" and "Feral" are my favourites as well. "Juniper" has been earworming its way around my brain for most of today, to my great relief actually, since it wedged out some ditty about camel toes that was stuck there for a while... Noe Venable on this record at least reminds me a bit of Hannah Fury - the style and arrangements are different, but somehow she seems to be coming from similar place. CDBaby carries this record, and I would say it's an essential purchase. - --------------------------------------------------------------------- "Grrr...Arrgh!" -- Mutant - -- 13:06:33 up 4 days, 14:30, 1 user, load average: 0.02, 0.01, 0.00-- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 05 Oct 2003 00:54:20 -0400 From: meredith Subject: Re: 'the world is bound by secret knots' by Noe Venable Hi, Andrew responded: >karen described that record so well all I can add is "me too!" It was the first time I'd been able to give it my 100% full attention, and I have to say I agree with Andrew completely. >Noe Venable on this record at least reminds me a bit of Hannah Fury - >the style and arrangements are different, but somehow she seems to be >coming from similar place. *That*'s who the record reminds me of!! (Though she does have a Sarah Slean-like song near the end there, too. :) >CDBaby carries this record, and I would say it's an essential purchase. I second that recommendation.
