All my love, Jenn Check out Jenn's nationally acclaimed release "In the Pool" and the new CD, "Live on the Blue Planet" MP3's, Merchandise & Tour Dates at Booking: Marcia Rubie "Lots of artists attempt to fashion a thoughtful blend of folk, blues and jazz, but few do it better than Jenn Adams...Writes passionate songs that brim with confidence, elegance and restraint. Centered on her own acoustic guitar, the arrangements on In The Pool are then colored with splashes of accordion, harmonica and horns, along with electric guitar, bass and drums...Showcases the subtle power of her singing...but it's Adams' original songs that make her an artist to watch." - Performing Songwriter Magazine "The music here is well-grounded in folksy and bluesy acoustic-electric flavors, sharp storytelling and vocals that on any given tune bring to mind Bonnie Raitt, Amanda Marshall or Joni Mitchell. Adams sweeps the listener into her moods quite effectively." - All Music Guide ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 30 Sep 2003 19:51:09 -0400 From: meredith Subject: Re: Painters/ or the man from another era/ or Emma Peel sings Hi, Lyle noted: >While Todd Rundgrens song "Just Another Onion Head," (chorus: Da, da, >dali, hello) isnt about painters, it is about dadaism so maybe that counts. Which, for no particular reason, reminded me of perhaps the most boppy, fun song about a painter: 5 Chinese Brothers' "Paul Cezanne". Well, I love Cubism, it's my favorite style When I see a Cubist painting I've just got to smile But there's one painter, I'm his biggest fan He's the father of Cubism and his name's Cezanne, Cezanne Cezanne, Cezanne, the father of Cubism Some people say that it was Picasso Other people claim it was DeChirico Some people think it was Modiglian(i) But they're all crazy, it was Paul Cezanne, Cezanne Cezanne, Cezanne, the father of Cubism When Paul Cezanne sat down to paint a flower or a face He had to solve one problem, three-dimensional space He said, "Form is content." He smoked a Gitanne. He was right. Now he's Paul Cezanne, Cezanne Cezanne, Cezanne, le pere de Cubisme Well Cezanne's father wanted him to be an avocat But Paul just looked at him and said, "Pfff, mais non, pa. I want to be a painter, I know I can!" Now his oeuvre's in the Louvre, he's Paul Cezanne, Cezanne Cezanne, Cezanne, the father of Cubism Well I had an aunt and she was in a coma So we loaded up her bed and we took her up to MoMA We got through the door, you wouldn't beleive what began She sat up and started screaming, "Hey, where is that Paul Cezanne?" Cezanne, Cezanne, the miraculous father of Cubism Paul Cezanne is famous now and I think that's really nice 'Cause his melons look like footballs and his apples look like dice So all you would-be painters, get out your brush and can You may be the next Paul Cezanne, Cezanne Cezanne, Cezanne, the father of Cubism Cezanne, Cezanne, the original father of Cubism :) =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://muzak.smoe.org =============================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 02 Oct 2003 08:21:23 -0400 From: meredith Subject: leona naess on tv Hi, Leona Naess is going to be on "Last Call With Carson Daly" tonight (or early tomorrow morning, depending on how you look at it). On a different subject, does anyone know how I can get my greedy little mitts on a couple of cassettes by "Olive and the Branch"? I heard a bunch of great stuff by them on WPKN awhile back only to find that they are a long defunct group from the New York area. I was really impressed with what I heard (which was quite a lot). np-Laurie Anderson-Life on a String ------------------------------ Date: 02 Oct 2003 11:09:18 -0700 From: Joseph Zitt Subject: Re: songs about artists BTW, this isn't exactly a song, but anyone who likes Mark Rothko's work has gotta hear Morton Feldman's exquisite "Rothko Chapel". And vice versa, I suppose, since I got into the artist's work through the music. One of the best music/art experiences of my life was sitting in the actual Rothko Chapel in Houston and listening to the piece on my Walkman. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 02 Oct 2003 14:41:32 -0400 From: "JoAnn Whetsell" Subject: rene and georgette Thanks for reminding me of this song I like very much.
