I think for the same reason Enya did. It's nice music that people find comfortable, vaguely familiar and non-threatening. I actually like both Enya and Vivaldi, but hate how their music has been used. neal ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Sep 2003 11:28:59 +0100 From: "Adam K." Subject: Guardian article on Damien Rice Today's Guardian has an article/interview on/with Damien Rice, he of the acclaimed album "O", which I mentioned last week. This is, I have to admit, an album I've kept going back to, and which is slowly growing on me. "The Blower's Daughter", in particular, is really haunting, and it took a grey, cold, rainy september day to make me notice it. The article, however, was one of those "I'm just a simple guy who really hates my record company hyping my album so much" kinda thing, and I'm always wary of those. Still, make up your own mind at: http://www.guardian.co.uk/arts/fridayreview/story/0,12102,1049357,00.html and I hope this works -- my hyperlinks are buggered. adam k. np: Phil Ochs/No More Songs -- (over and over, in tribute to and memory of Pete Frear, a good friend and one of the nicest people on the face of the earth) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Sep 2003 07:58:18 -0700 (PDT) From: alberto carrasco Subject: Re: Damien Rice Saw Damien here in Chicago on Tuesday. And his humble persona seemed quite genuine to me. He came across as very likable, clever, and funny. And sincerely appreciative of the tremendous response from the sell-out crowd of 2,000 or so. He said something to the effect of, "I was worried about playing such a large place and that so many of you showed up has me feeling completely high. I can't believe this." Unfortunately, Lisa Hannigan was not with him Tuesday, but is rejoining him mid-tour later. He said she was working on another project in the UK. So that was disappointing, but it was still a great show. Seeing REM tonight and Bruce for the umpteenth time tomorrow. Just thought you should know. Cheers. ~A - --- "Adam K." wrote: Today's Guardian has an article/interview on/with Damien Rice, he of the acclaimed album "O", which I mentioned last week.
