I'm sympathetic with both sides here--but I'm inclined to think that if the Bottom Line is behind by $185,000 in their rent, then the university has reason to hold out for a realistic prospect that the Bottom Line will be able to pay its back rent and continue to pay its rent in the future, before they make some kind of promise to allow the Bottom Line to stay on. Otherwise, in effect the University would be saying, if you promise to pay off all your debt to us, we promise to let you stay and get behind in your rent again in the future. >September 16, 2003: AN UPDATE > >To all who have written in support of The Bottom Line and those who >are planning to write, thank you very much. Caffe Vivaldi is a little venue in New York's West Village, where I went awhile back to listen to Kristin Hoffmann, who plays there often (and will be there Sept. 23-27). For the past few days and tonight, Yael is performing--I haven't gone yet, but the clips sound interesting: http://www.virsaonline.com/ListeningRoom/Artists/Yael/Yael.htm (warning: Windows Media format) Caffe Vivaldi 32 Jones Street (Off Bleecker Street Near 7th Avenue) New York, NY 10014 http://www.virsaonline.com/ListeningRoom/index.htm ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 20 Sep 2003 13:44:56 -0700 From: "John Zimmer" Subject: Re: second chances Steve VanDevender wrote: > I was sort of wondering why no one had mentioned any upcoming > Vienna Teng tour plans, and now that I look I see that this Eugene > show appears to be the first one on a fall tour, see > > http://virtrecords.com/viennateng/news_tour.html I have definitely been remiss in not mentioning the tour, which I've known about for some weeks. Mea culpa! :) I'm very glad you got to see her live in spite of that, Steve. We just saw her here in Portland on Thursday night, and she was her usual warm, delightful self. It was great to see her again, for the third time (a fact she was gracious enough to mention during her set), and get to chat with her a bit. It's also been very gratifying to see her audiences grow in size each visit -- further proof that real talent and good word-of-mouth can do wonders. If you get a chance to see Vienna during this (or any :) tour, do NOT miss her. Todd - ------- Yep and believe it or not, they did "10:15 Saturday Night"(!) Robert sat and talked for about 3 minutes or so. He said they're currently in the studio working on a new album. He talked about the need for a degree of psychological preparation he had to do in order to get ready to do Pornography, Disintegration, and Bloodflowers back to back to back for the Trilogy DVD. Kilborn asked what he listens to and he said, pretty much only indigenous music - folk music from different countries... no top 40 at all... He said he was not influenced by any bands from the '80s, and that the musicians who made him want to play music in the first place were Hendrix and the Beatles, then laughed, "I'm really showing my age." Apparently they're in L.A. for a KROQ festival and at the end of the interview Kilborn said The Cure would be back on his show next week to perform, "Just Like Heaven". __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
