Don't have the archive seaches pages bookmarked, so I don't know if it has been mentioned before, although it wouldn't surprise me. But if so, rock on! Essence--apparently her real name. http://www.essencemusic.com I only have MSIE so I don't know how friendly it is. Based out of SF, but she's touring now on the East Coast (Northhampton, NYC, Philly,Pitt) 9/22-9/30. Reminds me of Julia Darling in a way, with a few more blips and bloops. Enjoy! I can accept the album by itself. New Haven isn't very far from NYC ... and the United Church on the Green is within very easy reach of the Metro-North train station. I'm beside myself with glee to be part of the group that's bringing Jane to my town!! Whoo!!! Neal -- was the uninspired performance you saw solo, or with other musicians? In my experience she's been pretty much all over the map while performing solo because there's no one else there to bring her back onto our plane of existence, but she's much more focused with an ensemble. This tour she's touring with a sort of orchestra, so I would expect a much better experience. At least I'm hoping so!! =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://muzak.smoe.org =============================================== ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Sep 2003 22:42:06 -0600 From: Neal Copperman Subject: Re: Jane Siberry - new album and tour At 11:04 PM -0400 9/17/03, meredith wrote: >Neal -- was the uninspired performance you saw solo, or with other >musicians? The really weak show was solo, with Jane playing piano and guitar, and backing tapes. I saw her with the extra Janes on Speckless Sky, with the piano-fronted trio on Bound by the Beauty, as a duo with Tim Ray on piano, and the full-on Christmas ensemble. All those shows were brilliant. So one weak show certainly isn't enough to make me write off Jane. But it is enough to make me think really hard about flying somewhere to see her! neal now editing: ILGI at the Outpost (it's mighty slow going) ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V9 #264 **************************
