I felt a little bit this way about _boots_, especially the title song, but this entire album grabs me and keeps me hitting replay. There are so many killer songs here. I'd heard the live version of "Juniper" that is available on her website so I was a little prepared for this album but the recorded version is so much more intense than an mp3 file can be, and the album is full of other such powerful songs. The album also has a wonderful flow from track to track, sometimes powerful sometimes subtle and often both together. If you haven't been tempted to try Noe's work before this, do try this one. After getting _boots_ I had to work backwards and get her other discs and have liked them all, but this is the kind of album that takes the top of my head off. - --Neile P.S. Apologies to all those I owe email to; I was away in Scotland for 10 days and took a nasty disease with me there & back and thus far it appears to be winning the battle with my immune system. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 4 Sep 2003 20:20:19 -0700 From: "abaton" Subject: Mind Your Head Festival 2003 Hi folks, Were happy to announce that Marianne Nowottny has been booked at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London. Release date still scheduled for Nov. 4. Second, since I've had no chance to hear the new single ,"Fallen", on radio or (for lack of a better term) "music television", I tried to listen via the Flash-based stream at http://thesims.ea.com/us/. Yeah, the Sims site -- they're even planning a Sarah sim or character, somebody there is a definite fan. Regardless, I've had absolutely no luck getting this thing to work, if anyone has better luck let me know what you did. My theory is their server got swamped... Thirdly, for anyone looking for a new source of indie music streams online, check out www.oebase.com. Portland-based, with lots of local artists represented, and even a channel for this weekend's MusicFestNW. As I'm writing this they're playing Nicole Campbell's "Song About You" on the Folk channel, so they are definitely getting bookmarked. :) A word of warning: it's all Flash-based, including the player, but the streams work flawlessly on both my Win2k and Linux machines, via Mozilla/Flash 6.0 (same combo that failed above). Worth a look and a listen. John ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 4 Sep 2003 22:32:54 -0700 From: Paul Schreiber Subject: Fwd: Join PROJECT WARMTH "In Concert" To Beat The Cold This Winter!! It's more common than you might think -- the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services claims 600 THOUSAND people in the United States are homeless on any given night. The EveryDay Angels Foundation has established "Project Warmth" to help address the needs of these many people literally left "out in the cold" each winter. The concept is simple: collect coat and blanket donations as the "cost" of admission to a concert, show, sporting event, or party, and distribute them to those in need. On October 25, 2003 -- National Make A Difference Day -- we want to encourage as many venues as we can nationwide to take part in Project Warmth. You book the show or event, and the EDAF will help coordinate the donation process and provide press releases and publicity. Please e-mail us at EDAFinfo@aol.com if: * You are a musician, performer, or athlete and would like to turn your October 25 booking into a Project Warmth Show. * You own a venue and would like to dedicate your October 25 booking to Project Warmth. * You would like to offer your services as a volunteer or coordinator or would like to host a party or event (remember, Halloween is just a few days later; perfect timing for a costume party!). * You are a non-profit organization that takes donations of coats and blankets and gives them directly to the needy. * You would like more information about the EDAF, Project Warmth, or Make A Difference Day. You can also get more information online by visiting our Project Warmth page at www.edaf.org/projectwarmth.htm. And please feel free to forward this e-mail to anyone with a heart! ********************************************************** The EveryDay Angels Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit public benefit corporation whose mission it is to promote grassroots volunteerism and community involvement.
