(that venue is a tent as well, actually, but the audience (50000 strong is my guess) is standing in the field in front of it. I'm always amazed that Bjvrk has such a broad appeal!) > It turned out to be all good, though -- we ended up in the exact > same seats we'd had for Tori last week, row R in the dead center. I saw them at Xyafestivalen here in Oslo in August. Karen O is quite a character, but their music is kind of bland and I lost interest after just a few songs. I strolled away and sat down in the grass to read a book... the main reason for going to that festival was Sleater Kinney, who are just as energetic (although more traditional in their physical excesses) but with much stronger melodies and musical prowess. (I didn't realise how good their drummer is until I saw them live!) > and she ended the main set with the song from _Homogenic_ that > upon first listen made me hit "stop" and never put the disc into > the player again. I love all her strange and ugly sounds, that's a large part of the attraction for me. play it loud! blow my eardrums away! > It was an all-out sonic and visual assault, with strobe lights, > and a projection behind the musicians of a naked guy writhing > about, seemingly as pained by the song as I was. aw... thanks for the great report, and a belated Happy Birthday! - -- Kjetil T. np: Bjvrk: Homogenic nr: Iain Banks: The Business ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 2 Sep 2003 22:50:16 -0400 From: Paul Blair Subject: Kristin Hoffmann Sunday in CT >From: Kristin Hoffmann >Subject: Kristin Hoffmann @ First United Methodist Church, Stamford, CT - > Sunday, September 7th @ 4:00 PM >Date: Tue, 2 Sep 2003 15:29:51 -0400 > > Hi everyone, > I hope you all had a great summer!
