An Ozzy story hey, Blind covered a Black Sabbath song on their second album, OUT OF CHAOS, done in a very Dead Can Dance style (ha ha we did it first, I gotta get my jollies whenever I can!). National Acrobat was a song our bass player (Regina LaRocca, M99s) always loved, because of the lyrics, and we would perform it, ala Land of the Blind style, at concerts and offer a free CD to audience members that could guess the original band. To our amazement, we only gave away like two albums over a year, no one recognized it at all, ever....very medieval and simple, with Reg kinda singing the lead, in her dark dusky rasp and me on high sweetness. The funny thing was, our engineer for the album, Billy Triplett (Prince, Meridith Brooks) was asked to do sound for Black Sabbath about 6 months later. He said he thought and thought about it, he was very proud of OUT OF CHAOS, said it was "the first real piece of art" he had ever made..and he didn't want to ask them to listen to it, finally, while they were setting up their instruments he put the song out on the loudspeakers in the stadium, just blasted us out. He said the guys in the band really liked it, but Ozzy came roaring out saying "what the fuck"...ha ha, of course, now after his show, I guess he says that about everything. Anywho, they really liked our version of their song, which was nice....(better than what Jane Siberry said about our version of her song Calling all Angels, from our first album... she said "interesting", and that's all). Anyway, OUT OF CHAOS, 5 years later, is still selling very well on cd baby and other places and I want to say thanks all ya for your years of support from this list. still trying to just make art cyoakha ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 25 Aug 2003 20:31:35 -0400 From: meredith Subject: Erin McKeown on NPR Hi, Erin McKeown was profiled on NPR's Morning Edition this morning.
