Is Chris Boek even still on ecto?????? He visited us once (back when we lived in the teeny one bedroom apartment) and we had a great time! I recognize all but 2 (bravegirl & i_sw) from Ecto, but if this were an Ecto list harvest, there should be a lot more. These were part of a 970 line attachment to the spam (no, I never open attachments, ever, no matter who they're from, but my Norton declared it clean, so I right-clicked and opened it in text mode with UltraEdit). It was just a long list of addresses. Those were all bunched together. I've gotten 10 copies of the frickin "sobig" virus so far! I have no fear of it (Norton AntiVirus + never, ever opening attachments + using Eudora + only downloading from reliable sites keeps me pretty safe from most anything) but it's damned annoying to be targeted at all. vickie@enteract.com doesn't even exist anymore, but rcn is still forwarding things from that address (that they made me give up, against my will, when they bought enteract). Everything is OK 2. Ingenue 3. The Ratio or Freckles to Stars 4. Wholeness 5. Wiser (Different) 6. Firefly Personnel: Rebecca and Ryan Cosebloom http://www.halou.com As much as I like Lamb, another female-led electronic duo, the clichid lyrics leave something to be desired. Halou provides lyrical substance to its abstract electronic torch songs. The opening Everything is OK describes, in perfect detail, the type of person who over-analyzes situations, creating drama where there is none. Disregard your inner monologue, is a wonderful, down-to-earth sentiment. The hissing, warm Firefly is a lovely bit of remembered childhood wisdom: With light comes heat/ Into your heart I creak. The real ace-in-the-hole is the tearjerker Ingenue, which is one of best unrequited love songs ever. What can I do/ To be Ingenue?/ To stand in the blue and the warmth of spotlight. Rebecca Coseblooms mannered vocals are dramatic and quite beautiful. Theres a bit of the actress in her delivery, but it doesnt go over the top. Ryan Coseblooms architectural soundscapes mixes everything from strings, to glitch and blip electronica to (most intriguingly) the lo-fi grunginess of the title track, which wouldnt sound out of place on a Low album. I cant wait for the full-length. - --Craig __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! NELLY FURTADO is also releasing a new album called FRESH OFF THE BOAT and i think it is to be released NOVEMBER 24. it will also have a bonus DVD on the first pressing, though later pressings will only contain the CD. and no one on this list has mentioned the upcoming soundtrack to UNDERWORLD (the vampires versus werewolves romeo and juliet meets the matrix with guns and wirefu flick featuring KATE BECKINSALE). the soundtrack has a bunch of hard rock types on it, but also has a song by MILLA called ROCKET COLLECTING and a song by LISA GERMANO called FROM A SHELL (not sure if either of these have been released previously, i don't have LISA's latest album - but i am pretty sure that the MILLA song is new). i know there are bit MILLA fans on this list.... and finally does anyone know about the new BETH ORTON ep that is suppose to be released soon? irvin ------------------------------ Date: 21 Aug 2003 09:26:44 +1000 From: Andrew Fries Subject: Re: Blow up the Pokies On Wed, 2003-08-20 at 22:54, heidi maier wrote: > karen wrote: > > > Andrew, you said in your post that Tim never acknowledged the fact he > > was using someone else's tune. I heard and read several interviews where he neglected to mention this little detail. But I didn't mean to suggest he stole the song - I know Greta is listed in the credits. What's more I know she herself was quite happy about success of his version (probably because it meant she actually got to see some money for once) As for my opinion of Tim, I have no comment about his talent. I was referring to a person I was able to observe over the years - not from intimate distance admittedly, yet closer than merely his media presence. BTW, have a look at your Whitlam CDs and you'll find another old Peccadillo song: one of the Charlie's, I forget the number. In this one the words just slightly changed for the Whitlams version. - --------------------------------------------------------------------- "Grrr...Arrgh!" -- Mutant - -- 09:06:45 up 25 days, 22:18, 3 users, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00-- ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 20 Aug 2003 22:53:53 -0400 From: Paul Blair Subject: Re: Near Life Experience - a review At 23:03 -0400 8/9/03, Robert Lovejoy wrote: >I've always been impressed by Mike Oldfield's solo works, but here >we come to the tonal palette again - Oldfield's textures are as >colored pencils to Bartlett's Oils.
