It isn't just that you keep on buying CDs, but it makes you spread it all over the place as well. I for one wrote an email to a list earlier that listed the new CDs to get noew, and the future CDs to watch out for. KaTe's topped the second list of course (even though I'm not holding my breath) with Happy's on a good second followed by Rachel Smith, Willow and Kym Brown. The first list consisted of Vienna Teng (I know it isn't new, but still should be on any list), Noe Venable, Rachael Sage, Thea Gilmore and Rachel Smith (The Clearing is a must-have). > > I managed to restrain myself, so today's order consists merely of: > > 1 of: MCKINLEY: goner > 1 of: LISA CERBONE: ordinary days > 1 of: DAUGHTER DARLING: sweet shadows > 1 of: TWO LOONS FOR TEA: looking for landmarks > 1 of: WILLOW: sweet dark demon > 1 of: WILLOW: lovely love > 1 of: RACHEL SMITH: the clearing Great list :) At least I got 4 of those ... - -- Yngve ****************************************** * E-mail: onealien@mo.himolde.no ********* * Cell: +47 41330571 ********************* ***** Blessed be!!! ********************** ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 14 Aug 2003 09:00:22 -0400 From: Mark Chapman Subject: Happy at RAINN 2003 > Date: Wed, 13 Aug 2003 09:38:58 EDT > From: Kosterhaudt@aol.com > Subject: Happy at RAINN 2003 > Hi All, > Just wanted to let you know that HR will be doing the RAINN benefit at The > Point in Bryn Mawr, PA. I don't think I can come if she's the last one playing. That makes for a very late arrival home in DC. Thanks, ~Mark ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 14 Aug 2003 16:57:46 +0000 From: Subject: Thea Gilmore / Charlotte Martin Just to add my thoughts on the Thea Gilmore album - I like it a lot, and am very much looking forward to seeing her perform these tracks live, but I'm disappointed with some of the production. Having heard "Razor Valentine" and *loved* it on an acoustic radio performance from backstage at the Guildford festival, I was so excited to hear this. Unfortunately, they've drowned a beautiful, poignant song in what is, for me, unnecessary production. It's also ironic that "Mainstream" could clearly be a hit single. :) As for Charlotte - those of you going to the shows, enjoy yourselves, she seems to be developing into an excellent live performer. She's started to improv a bit more (notably in the version of Chasing A Shadow in the most recent show available from http://webdev.archive.org/audio/etreelisting-browse.php?collection=etree&cat=Charlotte%20Martin) - anyone who downloads that show might be interested to know that "Danny Boy" was played because Danny Lohner from NIN was in attendance. She welcomes 'audience recordings' uploaded to Etree, so do take your equipment! It's also worth mentioning her message board which seems to be populated by people with Ectophilian tastes... http://www.charlotteteam.com/phpBB2/index.php UK people should probably know by now, but in case they don't - there are UK tours from Dar Williams, Heather Nova, Thea Gilmore and Liz Phair happening in the near future. If you don't know dates, e-mail me. :) Cheers, Mike - ----------------------------------------- Email provided by http://www.ntlhome.com/ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 14 Aug 2003 10:24:32 -0700 (PDT) From: Ellen Rawson Subject: Re: Thea Gilmore / Charlotte Martin - --- mike.gray7@ntlworld.com wrote: > > It's also ironic that "Mainstream" could clearly be > a hit single. :) Agreed. :-) > > UK people should probably know by now, but in case > they don't - there are UK tours from Dar Williams, > Heather Nova, Thea Gilmore and Liz Phair happening > in the near future. The Time Out ad says it's Eva Abraham in London, but the email from Juliet states differently. Ellen ===== "Literature stops in 1100. A friend's CD/DVD stopped working after she installed the latest Windows Media Player. After several months of tweaking and uninstalling and reinstalling stuff she got it to recognize and play DVDs, but it still won't acknowledge data disks or CDs. Although she's fervently resisted doing a full wipe and OS reinstall, it looks like that's what it may take. - Larne ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 14 Aug 2003 11:45:33 -0700 From: cyo@landoftheblind.com Subject: Re: CD Baby and Lovecraft Movie cd baby rocks! they are helping artists so much by hooking up with larger distribution, such as Tower, most recently. They sell more of my cd ORDINARY MAGIC then Amazon and all the other catalogs, plus they actually pay me! They send artists little tips, have local meetings (they were just in SF) as well as bug you when you are slow..."Cyoakha, you are out of stock with OUT OF CHAOS, you said you were repressing them, so where are they? You have lost 20 sales so far!" and little proddings like that. Real people run this company and you can actually speak to them too! So thank you all good Ectos for supporting CD Baby, they truly are there for artists and listeners. peace, cyoakha grace For anyone wondering what I have been up to, I am hard at work on finishing the entire soundtrack of the Lovecraft movie, Search for Unknown Kadath, I have a hard deadline of Sept. as it premieres at the Lovecraft Film Festival in Portland, Oregon Oct. 10th....it is looking and sounding great! Send me ecto-energy to finish this in time! ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 14 Aug 2003 14:59:30 -0400 From: "Robert Lovejoy" Subject: Re: A techie question I'm not enough of a techie to try to solve this without sitting down at your computer, but did you check the drivers for the units or try reinstalling the drivers from the CDs that came with the drives? I'm not sure where to find the drivers on W98, but on XP it's called "Device Manager", found under "System" in "Performance and Maintenance" on the Control Panel. I doubt it's the BIOS; I don't think McAfee goes that deep. Check your driver status first. If you've misplaced the driver discs, you should be able to download new drivers from the manufacturer's websites. Good luck! I feel guilty about going to a fundraiser show of this caliber for so cheap! (then again, I could just throw some money directly at RAINN...)
