Good interview and lots of info, and pictures. She's appearing at the Aladdin Theater on Friday night, tickets from there or Ticketmonster. If you are within range of Portland, try to come. I saw her rehearsal performance last week and she is sounding good. The two couldn't be more different yet still part of our universe. Great show, Cyo, and it won't be two years before I see you again! BTW, the hosts of the concert put on a spread of knockout eats and had an LCD projector worthy of a psychedelic dance concert. (Alan and I contributed a bottle of Garden of Eris absinthe to the event, appreciated by many. Although there were more sprogs there than to my liking, that's just me and it didn't detract from a great evening. Vaguely derogatory term for children. It's in the Oxford. Original meaning is a new sailor, first time on the boat. We use it all the time on the Childfree list. Probably should have defined it. Probably should have defined it. oh boy, vocabulary! thanks, Michael. i've already tried it out on my niece, in the sentence "avast that, y' wee sprog!" this had the expected result; she ignored me entirely (she's two and a half -- i need say no more... ;-) um, i actually have some ecto comment, but it would involve thinking, so i will defer it to another day... - -g - -- "i've never been afraid to change the circumstances of the world" - -- Happy Rhodes - -- "except for bunnies..." - -- Anya ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 13 Jul 2003 22:48:30 -0700 From: Damon Subject: vancouver area 'philes! (would that just be me, art and jan at this point?) anyone planning to go to the vancouver folk festival next weekend? there are three ectophilic luminaries playing the folk fest this year: jill sobule - we all know jill sobule. :) jorane - our powerful quebecois cellist. andrea koziol - as mentioned by sherlyn and myself, she does torchy, bluesy jazzy stuff with an incredible amount of passion that's fun to watch. i'm planning to go on saturday, it seems to have the best mix of the three, though unfortunately no evening concerts by any of them (jorane plays a set on sunday night but one day of the folk fest is enough to wear me out!) anyone else? art? i'd love to meet up with someone if anyone's going. i was hoping to have at least one friend along but it doesn't look like it's going to pan out that way.
