She has more than one mouth to feed now, obviously. This is it exactly. Breeding kills artists, especially women. Examples: Pat Benatar, who never recovered; Madonna, who although she had no more talent than Bill Gates, nevertheless morphed into a moo of the worst kind, a self-righteous breeder idiot who expects the world to worship her because she accomplished the 6,002,004,678th "miracle" of birth. Think back to every female artist whose life ended when she became a parent. The overall loss to the world is a tragedy. The exceptions are so notable they make the history books. I remember Gong from the 80's and always had problems of confusing their names: Pierre and Bonoit... needless to say, Benoit was supurb! As I've followed those guys over the span of many years, they will always be Gong in my heart to me :-) I'm getting used to the Gonzilla thing now though. And my sincere apologies to Bob! No disrespect intended in anyway. I've tattooed and burned it into my brain now! Thanks for the "Alan' clarification! I couldn't help but think of Holdsworth as soon as he said "Alan brought us here." Afterall, Holdsworth was a part of Gong at times.. Gary Husband: One of my fav drummers next to Bruford. He was/is Alan Holdsworth's Drummer. Or is it Alan was/is his guitar player? (-; Either way, he is drummer supremeness.... As for the ticket price, maybe it was kind of high for most although considering ticket prices elsewhere, I had no prob shelling it out. Heck, I gave Happy more than for her house concert. I remember when tickets were like 10 dollars to see top artists when I was 13 years old! Nowadays try 50-60-70 bucks easy! With seats up in the boon docks... But for those who are not familar with Happy's artistry passing by might not see 20 bucks reasonable. I didn't mind paying. I was seeing two great artist/bands. I hope the club was good to them as well. Thanks for listening. I would offer as a counterexample Kristin Hersh, who in my opinion has not lost any of her creative quality in the process of having children (at worst, maybe her pace has slowed a bit). I'm certainly not well-convinced by your offering of Pat Benatar and Madonna as examples of your thesis, since I was never much impressed by their talents to begin with. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 4 Jul 2003 06:03:15 -0700 (PDT) From: Neb Rodgers Subject: Fwd: Update from Annie Haslam From the Annie Haslam mailing list. - -Neb - ---Original Message--- From: WhtDoveOrg@ao.... | Date: Thu, 3 Jul 2003 13:11:01 EDT Subject: Update from Annie Haslam Dear Friends I wanted to inform you that I will not be doing any concerts this year, including my annual Christmas concerts. I am about to undergo oral surgery for a 'front' tooth implant. The recovery and healing time is quite lengthy. I am sad about the shows and not looking forward to what is coming. I will however still be able to paint which makes me happy. We are also redesigning the website yet again. This is because, as beautiful as it is, it is not as user friendly as I had hoped. I know many people don't have FLASH and also many who are afraid to download from the webb&b&b&.so that is why I am redoing it once again. I apologise for not updating the site, there has been a lot going on in my life (mine is no different from anybody else's)b&b& My sad news is, I lost my dear brother Michael to lung cancer in May. Some of you got to see him sing with me at my concert at The Seaport Museum Concert Hall in 1996. He had a magnificent voice, it was one of the highlights of my life to perform with him. So, sad times all round. I send love and peace to you all, I hope that you keep checking my site, it should be redone in a few weeks. I will also keep you informed via e-mail when anything new comes along! Take care and have a happy summer. Love Annie x ============ __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo! This is a "classic Rock' format station whose DJ's have apparently never figured out that Cds have more than one track on them. True to form, they played the first track from the Virt release, Tower, but nonetheless, I was most impressed with this spontaneous burst of sheer musical recklessness on their part. All Vienna fans and friends, please email KFOG san francisco and voice your approval; just don't tell them you live out of their broadcast range ;) Happy 7/4 to all Phil Gotta go; playing somewhere today out near Fresno with Bill Mazur, if you're near there and looking for a musical gathering, call us at 415 225 7457 ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 04 Jul 2003 14:02:59 -0400 From: meredith Subject: Re: Chicken Liz? Because if you're not, well, that was the most patently offensive thing I have *ever* seen posted to this list. Personally, of the Bay Area radio stations, I vastly prefer KFOG. Their sets are infinitely more eclectic than your standard 'classic rock' station (which never seem to be able to get past the Stones and Led Zep). I hear Cowboy Junkies reasonably regularly, they've been playing a fair amount of Josh Joplin (my favourite Atlanta artist). The weekly 'Acoustic Sunrise' show is generally pretty heavy on ecto-friendly artists. I'd be happier if I were the one making their playlist, but they're pretty good for commercial radio. That said, my radio needs are generally filled by KQED, the local NPR affiliate. :) /nm ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V9 #193 **************************
