No station email address for her (it's largely volunteer based), but your best bet might be just to call in during her regular show time slot, which is Mondays, 9 - 10 pm. The first time I heard those voices, it was like love at first sight. Whispered lyrics set to warm, soft music. Their self-titled album is my favorite, though "Burn & Shiver" and the "November" EP are both excellent as well (with a darker feel than their first).. I saw them live in Detroit in October, and it was amazing. Bathed in warm red light their angelic voices hypnotized a crowd of about 20 - but I think in a few years it could be to a packed house. :) They're hugely talented. Check 'em out! When sh'es good, she's very very good. wrong-doing? i thought it was wandering. hmm. > How do their earlier albums compare? definitely check out "a better version of me." "knives" is by far the most obviously personal of their records; "version" has got songs about the contents of lincoln's pockets and how nasty flourescent light is, and far less navel gazing. i'm quite fond of the "atlantic" ep, too, but i think the farther back in their catalog you go, the more shrill and less accomplished they get on the whole (although there are a handful of gems on the early records too) pretty much their entire catalog is available on e-music, if we have any e-music subscribers hereabouts. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 29 Mar 2003 21:51:03 -0800 From: Neile Graham Subject: Re: Kinzaza Yes, they already have a page on The Ectophiles' Guide to Good Music. We already had announced my intentions to tour on the website, but just in case some of you didn't see it, I'm asking for your help here. What I need is to compile a list of ALL people who can and wish to accomodate a small acoustic duo or trio in their homes, (along with an audience of course). I am interested in spanning the entire country, so don't hold back just because you think you're too far. Those of you who have already recently contacted us, thank you and I'll be in touch. I need this information now, so I may plot my course and make it so. If you cannot offer concert space but have great ideas for local clubs, radio stations or cafes, those are wecome too. Please email responses to kosterhaudt@aol.com. Thanks everyone and I look forward to hearing from you. The music is in the vein of Shuglenifty type Celtic fiddle up dancey things, although we also have some cool ecto ballads, also Celtic, but mostly up and very positive. It's an all women band, in case that matters. The drummer is excellent, having played with everyone major on the left coast, and a recording session player, the fiddle player is also very well known and totally amazing, a nice groove bass and me on Celt vocals. We are touring quite a bit, and been asked to play up there already, so an Oregon gig is very possible, especially a paid gig. We are called THE DRUID SISTERS and I can send you a cd if you would like. Please tell me what kind of Celt music you were looking for. Congradulations on your wedding. peace, cyo ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V9 #88 *************************
