I think it was 9:00 e/8:00 c, but I could be mistaken. She is playing songs that are requested and answering questions from the audience, I believe. If this is a re-run, it's recent, because she plays a song from Scarlet's Walk (which I've grown to love, btw) in the commercial. None of the songs have a impact on me as many of the songs from the 'eventide' or ' Painted Pictures' album did. It seems to me that GEG is trying to walk the path of the 'big money' pop and therefore is trying to make the songs more 'accessible' to a new public... That motivation is of course fully understandable for people who are trying to live from music. But I think it is a bit pity when the music loses its contrast in the mainstream. The search after music that sends ( time after time after time after ... ) shivers down our spines continues. Hmmmm, I'm looking towards the new Velvet Belly, Daniel Lanois and of course HR. Henri Salvador did various covers of foreign songs, especially during the late 60s, so it wouldn't be surprising if "Mais non mais non" was one such cover. Those covers were generally lighthearted and a bit non-sensical - his cover of Shirley and Company's "Shame shame shame (shame on you)" was thus titled "J'aime j'aime j'aime (j'aime tes genoux)" (I love love love love your knees) and was somewhat surrealistic. "Mais non mais non" (Untrue untrue) is in the same vein; Quick translation I should only date 50+ years old girls 'cause the younger ones, they only thing about the money (Untrue untrue) Oh no oh no I really shouldn't look at them And especially not touch them (Untrue untrue) No no no no no no (in a rather frustrated tone) (Untrue untrue) When the girls they come a-teasin me Mommy she said, leave 'em alone (Untrue untrue) Oh no oh no don't you go insisting One should not tempt me (Untrue untrue) No no no no no no (in a thoroughly frustrated tone) (Untrue untrue) Sweden : Heaven or Hell was actually an Italian movie (according to the IMDB), and it's quite probable this scandalous pseudo-documentary was distributed in France in 1968 - making it the more likely reason why Henri Salvador would hear it and cover it. I agree that doesn't explain how Jim Henson found about it, but it's the best I can do to help solve the manah manah mystery. Unlike the two old guys on the balcony, I care about the definition of a manah manah. :-) - -- ____________________________________________________________ Sebastien Andrivet. Hi, I'm the proverbial lurker here but Mary Timony caught my attention. I'm going see her in a acoustic solo setting next Saturday here in Chicago and can't wait. I'm a big fan of her record "The Golden Dove"...it remindes me alot of something Susanne Lewis might sound like if she played it a little more straight. (Disclaimer: The only Susanne Lewis stuff I've heard is both Hail records, the stuff she did with Thinking Plague and the one she did with Biota...none of which can be called "straight" imo.) ...anyway...so Mary Timony has another solo disc out besides "Golden Dove"?
