Its about Tracy's first big tour in this new incarnation of her career. I know a lot of people here were interested in what happened last summer after her partner Dave Carter died suddenly.... I just saw her sold-out Portland and Missoula shows and they were amazing, quite transcendent experiences. She's really embracing her new front-person role (and does have a side-guy for this tour, Donny Wright on upright bass and guitar). She could certainly still use lots of support (though I'd have to say you are really doing yourself a huge favor by going to see her, no martyrdom required). - -Jess >TRACY GRAMMER - Winter/Spring 2003 Newsletter >http://www.daveandtracy.com > >In this issue: >- News >- Upcoming Tour Dates >- The DAVEANDTRACY.COM Store > >FIRST TOUR A SUCCESS >Thanks to D&T friends and fans for coming out for my first solo >tour. (see http://www.missoulanews.com/AE/News.asp?no=3056 ) "Tracy Grammer is coming to save you. Armed with a few of the sassier members of the string family, and a voice as nuanced and strong as you could hope for, Grammer delivers the songs of the late Dave Carter with a supernatural force that funnels straight through your ear to the deep, deep center of your heart. With meticulous rhythm and lyrics as familiar as they are puzzling, these songs have an intellectual and emotional edge that most folk music fails to hone. They tell tales spun from an existential cowboy mindset, rife with the beauty of barren landscapes and an awareness of the yet untravelled miles of the soul. The inherent complexity of this music has its grounding in Carter's lyrics but is carried to fruition by Grammer's musicianship." PPS I wonder if there is an entry in the ecto guide for Tracy and Dave...? Midwest Hi All, Ibm happy to announce two upcoming Living Room Concerts for those of you in the Ohio-Michigan area. This month I will be hosting Jessica Weiser (featuring Jess(vocals/piano/guitar) and Lyle Koehnlein (guitar/bass), as she tours the Midwest. The show is scheduled for Friday evening, March 21st in Toledo, Ohio. Tentative start time will be 8 pm. A local musician will more than likely open up for Jessica. On Tuesday evening, April 29th, I am excited to announce that Terami Hirsch will make her way to Toledo while touring the Midwest. Again, I plan to have a local musician open for Terami. Since this one will be a week-day show, I plan to start a little earlier...say around 7 pm. More details to follow as we get closer to the date. Toledo is within an hour from Detroit and Ann Arbor Michigan and about an hour and a half from Cleveland. I am located close to Interstate and Turnpike exits as well as restaurants and hotels for anyone that would be considering staying overnight. I can accommodate up to 30 people comfortably and have 24 spots remaining for Jessicabs show and all spots open for Terami in April. There is a $10 donation per person at each of the shows. Snacks and beverages will be provided. By the week-end I should have a website up with more details so stay tuned. If you plan on attending, please RSVP to me at dlynngarrett@aol.com Hopefully by the 21st of March we will get a break in the winter weather.....why not celebrate the coming of Spring with us!! Hope to see some of you there. It was a good, if brief performance: a few songs from the new album plus "The Christians and the Pagans" (for which I was able to duck away from the fourth floor registers so I could run down the escalator and listen). A somewhat nasal balding guy did a few songs before her. Several audients were impressed by him and asked us who he was, but no one seemed to have caught his name. Any clues? (I have this dread that he's someone I should have recognized instantly.) I've heard the new album a few times, and it's growing on me. And one song (I don't know which, since the display on our playstock CD player is broken) has caused several people to ask, excitedly, if it's new Jane Siberry. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 04 Mar 2003 22:47:32 +0000 From: jjhanson@att.net Subject: Tori Amos Presale Info Pre-sale tickets for Tori Amos's Albuquerque appearance go on sale on Thursday--anyone know where the presale passwords are being given out? Is it through her e-mail list? Pre-sale passwords are available through the official e-mail list. You can subscribe at . So far, they have been sending the pre-sale password out the night before tickets go on sale. There has been a case where they didn't get it out in time for the presale. However, if you guess single words from song titles on _Scarlet's Walk_, you'll likely hit upon it (assuming they keep up the same password scheme, of course). /nm {who hopes to be at the two San Jose shows in April} ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 05 Mar 2003 01:42:43 +0000 From: "Lyle Howard" Subject: Hokey Pokey <> I trust Brave Combo will be asked to provide their inimitable heavy metal version of the Hokey Pokey.
