Hey all, Just got back from Folk Alliance in Nashville and am busy catching up on life and sleep. I hope to post impressions and comments as the week goes by. Despite picking up a ludicrous number of free CD's, I came home with an overwhelming need to order CD's. Talk about a sickness. Anyway, for me it was no contest for the best set of the conference. For the second year running, it was hands down the Road Dog Divas (Myshkin, Darlene and Laura Freeman). More on them later. But now that I'm home, I want to get their stuff. CDBaby has the Road Dog Diva's CD, as well as two from Laura Freeman (one is a kid's album, but the two songs I heard were wonderful), bunches by Myshkin and at least one from Darlene. I'm also buying Rachel Smith, which was unavailable the last time I ordered. Anything else essential I should get while I'm ordering? neal np: fool's gold - aengus finnan ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Feb 2003 22:35:14 -0500 From: meredith Subject: March house concerts: ecto special (calling Chuck Stipak!!!) Hi, March is going to be ecto month at the House O'Muzak. Funnily enough, one of the shows here is going to be a kind of tough sell, whereas the second one is possibly going to be sold out before we even officially start taking reservations. The first is on March 16: Dorothy Scott. Suffice it to say that seeing her is about as close as many of us can get to seeing Mary Margaret O'Hara perform live. Sloan Wainwright once likened it to "getting (your) molecules rearranged". She is only just visiting this planet, and her performances are the kind of wonderfully disconnected experiences that need to be seen to be believed. This is one of those shows where I'm going to personally dope-slap any and all ectophiles who can get here but lame out. Just thought I'd give y'all fair warning. And the second is on March 30: Vienna Teng. I'm dropping this in here now, because I'm already halfway to sold out and I haven't officially opened the floor to reservations yet! So before I even email our series' mailing list, I want to make sure all the ectophiles who want to come are definitely on the list. So please email me ASAP if you want to come! Even if you're not 100% sure, let me know and I'll put you on the "maybe" list. (If you've already mentioned to me that you want to come, I've got you on the list.) But come see Dorothy too, dammit!!! :) =============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth =============================================== Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://muzak.smoe.org NEXT UP: Dorothy Scott, 3/16/03 =============================================== ------------------------------ Date: 11 Feb 2003 15:01:39 +1100 From: Andrew Fries Subject: Re: CDBaby order?, and other things On Tue, 2003-02-11 at 11:43, neal copperman wrote: > Anything else essential I should get while I'm ordering? I just downloaded two songs from Sarah Fimm's website (sarahfinn.com), as recommended by Craig. Her CDs are available from CDBaby, and I'll defintely add them to my next order! other things 1: Wendy Rule don't miss that new song on Wendy Rule's website, just mentioned by Anthony. Great song, Wendy at her best! I'm very excited to hear she has a new album, and having heard "Penelope", I'm relieved it doesn't seem to be too different in style from her previous efforts. other things 2: advance warning I just discovered a band I think I'm going to like a lot: Architecture in Helsinki. They are not Finnish, however. They hail from Melbourne, and they just released their first CD, "Fingers Crossed". I'm going to grab it the first chance I get.
