Disney's first Ghibli releases are the ones for which they have done English dubs. There will be extras specific to the R1 releases. Word is that the rest of the Ghibli DVDs will be released with the existing dubs from the Japanese editions. If there's not already a dub, there won't be one. Don't look for Totoro from Disney for a while, as they don't get the rights from Fox until 2004. The new Fox release is full screen, but not a bad buy. Especially for those with kids, because it's hard to find a better children's film. For Diana Wynne Jones fans, Miyazaki and the Ghibli crew start work next month on their version of Howl's Moving Castle. Release target is Summer 2004 in Japan. - - Steve ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 25 Jan 2003 12:19:24 -0800 From: cyo@landoftheblind.com Subject: Re: welcome Phil welcome back blue boy to the world and ecto and hopefully less trauma in the New Year...(I'm right beside you, last year kicked my butt, now it is sufficiently recovered enough to wag it at the world again) much love, cyo ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 25 Jan 2003 21:10:23 +0000 From: "Paul Jensen" Subject: New Member Hey all, I just signed up on Ecto about a week ago and thought it was about time to come out of lurkdome and introduce myself. :) I've been a Happy Rhodes fan for quite some time now. I'm deeply impressed! Ms. Teng's music is at once complex and accessible. These are songs that truly come from the heart and soul, a rare commodity in today's packaged music world. Thanks Vienna for sharing your talent with the world; may it appreciate you as it should. Lord knows there are some fine artists extant whose music has sadly been overlooked by the public. It would seem Vienna's music is reaching a lot of people, and I am cheered that music of this stratospheric quality is being so well appreciated ! Bob Lovejoy, Smoeless in Philadelphia PS- If any of you out there are watching "Hack" on CBS, I'm doing the film transfer. Yet another reason why I'm more of a lurker than I should be. Boy they shoot a lot of film for an episode!! ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 25 Jan 2003 22:19:35 -0800 From: Joseph Zitt Subject: Milla concert video I just saw for sale at Amoeba in Berkeley a video of Milla performing her music, mostly music from her much-beloved album. It was filmed in Austin (Liberty Lunch?) where she opened for, IIRC, Todd the Wet Sprocket. Is this any good, as video and as a performance? It looked rather, er, unofficial. And now off to watch the Yoko One videos which came in the mail today, and the David Lynch/Julee Cruise "Industrial Symphony", which I found, after a long search following my previous copy disappearing, for $3.95 in the same batch as the Milla.
