I missed it and the line-up doesn't sound bad but calling themselves the Doors is kinda creepy. Ray Manzarek.... if you're out there.... the '60s are over, man...... Jim's dead, man..... let it go, Ray..... just let it go, man..... Oh, and Ray.... is your version of Carmina Burana ever coming out on CD? Do more of that stuff, man. - --- Tom Masapollo wrote: Did anyone happen to see the Doors on Jay Leno the other night? After 32 years, Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger put today a band without Jim Morrison. The lead singer is Ian Astbury (from the Cult). I was just wondering what anyone else thought of the "new" Doors. They also had Stewart Copeland (Police) on drums because John Densmore couldn't make the tour due to health reasons. There is also a bass player with the band. After seeing the original Doors with Morrison back in the 60's, it was a bittersweet treat to see this. It was still great seeing Ray and Robby performing together again. Break on through, tom Yahoo! I don't think I mentioned this one last year: Mason Jennings has a song called "Dr. King" on _Birds Flying Away_. It's not great, but a simple, serviceable song. Have a good day. Hi, Just saw Vienna on Letterman. Brava!!! She did a great job, and sounded wonderful. (And for once, Paul Schaffer and the band's accompaniment didn't suck!!) It's not often that Letterman says something about how good an album is ... For those on the West Coast who may still need to set their VCR's, you can start it at 12:25 AM and you'll be in plenty of time. I don't think she actually went on until 12:30, but my clock might be wrong. So Vienna, please tell us all about it -- I've often wondered just what goes on behind the scenes of that show... ============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth ============================================== Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://muzak.smoe.org NEXT UP: Holly Figueroa, 1/26/03 ============================================== ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Jan 2003 00:48:12 -0500 From: Jeff Wasilko Subject: Re: yay, vienna!!! Paul managed to sound just fine behind Vienna :-) And no Biff singing backup vocals, either! Congrats again, Vienna! > It's not often that Letterman says something about how good an album is ... Yeah, it was nice to hear him say "I've heard the entire CD, there's not a dud on this."! > For those on the West Coast who may still need to set their VCR's, you can > start it at 12:25 AM and you'll be in plenty of time.
