In a book called Vampire sextette kim newman's story other side of midnight has a slayer called barbi who is of course buffy. After Newman's send up of Bond in Judgement of Tears it's clear he has a knack for postmdern fun. Vampire sextette also houses a brilliant Tanith lee story and a good one by Nancy Collins called Some Velvet Morning..a person in it is called Phaedra..Like Nancy sings in the song by lee hazlewwood. They seemed to do quite a bit of new tunes. And I loved Karen's cover of Peggy Lee's "Fever"! He took some initial assumptions on rates of population growth, vampire feeding, etc and plugged them into a differential equations model. What he got was an equilibrium human population of 36,346, and an vampire population of around 18, and furthermore the equilibrium is stable. His conclusion was that even though the show's designers are not ecologists, they managed to come up with ideas that actually made ecological sense. Scroll to the bottom of the page to see a pretty cool spiral graph of human population vs vampire population."/ ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V8 #341 **************************
