Anyone out there in ectoland have any experience with Dani Linnetz? She looks kind of intriguing from the web site and I was curious what folks in ectoland though. (I know of at least one performing ectophile who should have a positive opinion!) www.danilinnetz.com neal np: Blue Horse - Be Good Tanyas ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 4 Dec 2002 02:53:08 -0600 (CST) From: "Mitchell A. Pravatiner" Subject: Broadway The Evanston Reckless Records store has closed but the ones on Broadway and in Wicker Park are still going strong. By coincidence, I will be moving down the street from the Green Mill in the not too distant future, and look forward to being able to catch Patricia Barber's act, among others. Personally I've had way too much to do this Fall with trying to manage both studies and being elected to the student board ... Oh, we didn't make it any easier by starting to look for hidden skeletons, because it brought us quite a bit of trouble. But we did manage what we set out to do, but we are all mighty tired. I've been having the opportunity to pick which albums to review in the student paper the last months, and that has been obvious. As of now (next issue will be different) Happy Rhodes, Molly Zenobia, Radio Iodine, Aimee Mann, Elysian Fields, Tanya Donelly, Throwing Muses, Kristin Hersh, Juliana Hatfield, Breeders and one more I can't remember right now. In addition to that I've written an article about Carole King (about time to get her some attention). I've bought quite alot of music this Fall actually. When I finally had the opportunity to order online again I have been raiding CDbaby. There might actually be 6-15 CDs (two packages - one with 6 and the other with 8) waiting for me at home as I write this. Six or more of the following that is - together with the other CDs I've bought already I'm gonna have some mighty problems putting together a top 10 list of this year :) MOLLY ZENOBIA: skin I ordered her latest album which isn't very new to say it that way, early Fall. I find it quite amazing, so I just got to get her first album as well. RACHEL SMITH: the clearing Been mentioned quite a bit around here, and has been on my list for some time. ALCHEMY VII: white raven The Bard section at witchvox.com got some really nice artists listed. I did hear some samples from this album, and I really really liked what I heard. LAND OF THE BLIND: out of chaos Bought their lates earlier and just have to have this one as well. ERIN MCKEOWN: monday morning cold She has been on my shortlist for quite some time now, but I actually forgot to order it with the last bunch *slaps his forehead* Now I didn't :) WILLOW: sweet dark demon Her accustic album is amazing - what I've heard from this tells me that it also is just that. MY SCARLET LIFE: infrared MY SCARLET LIFE: danse amour I've got 1 of their albums together with 2 Big Hat albums, and and been growing more and more fond of this band. I got a long way to go to get them all though :) ROSE POLENZANI: self-titled Mentioned here on ecto from time to time. Liked the samples, so it ended up on the list. JILL TRACY: diabolical streak I've heard and do love some of her songs, but haven't heard the whole album yet. Been on my list for a long time now, so it was about time I got around to order it. CALL ME ALICE: sweet new disease AMAZON MOLLIES: sugar molly ALPHA CAT: pearl harbor THE LOVELIES: hot one A quartet of bands deriving from hearing Alchemy VII . Liked the samples :) MELISSA FERRICK: valentine heartache Shortlisted a long time ago - look forward to listening to the whole album. - -- Yngve n.p. Squicking wheels in my brain - quite hard to get things going this morning. n.r.
