It seems to have disappeared, but this site has picked up the slack (although it only runs through Season 6) http://www.buffyworld.com/buffy/music.htm Geeze, looking at the guide for Season 7, it's interesting to note that Mutant Enemy already has titles for all the episodes. www.splendidtheband.com This is the official website for Splendid, Angie Hart and hubby Jesse Tobias' band. Angie is formerly of Frente. Splendid has appeared at least twice on Buffy and one of their songs is on the soundtrack cd. Speaking of Jesse(s), it's been bugging me for a while that Norah Jones' single "It Hasn't Been Me" sounds so much like Once Blue and Once Blue didn't get all the hoopla that she's been getting. Then, one of my friends brought her album into work tonight and we were listening to it, and I read the liner notes and noted with surprise that Jesse Harris wrote and played guitar on several songs, including that single. Jesse was the male half of Once Blue (rebecca martin was the female half). So that explains it. Lucretia Borgia ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 13 Nov 2002 20:47:24 -0500 From: Valerie Richardson Subject: Tara Fuki (worth a listen if you're a Jorane fan) I recently stumbled across a CD (Piosenki Do Snu) from Tara Fuki, a duo from the Czech Republic. The two women in the group (Andrea Konstankiewicz and Dorota Blahutova) both sing and play the cello, and their music is very Jorane-like, with lyrics in Polish rather than French and English. ________________________ From their website (www.tarafuki.cz): Both of these two energetic violoncellists come from Northern Moravia, where they were passing by each other while studying at the Ostrava Conservatory. They met one year ago in Brno during their musicology studies at the Philosophical Faculty. Andrea (born in 1972) was at that time featured in the band BOO and in the international music-dance formation Rale, while Dorota (born in 1975) was playing with the Brno-based alternative band Lippany. They were both willing to play in an acoustic structure; moreover it appeared soon that Dorota had a beautiful voice. In their music and texts, they get inspired by the poetry of the night and by the dreams, which they consider as extractions from the sub-conscious. It is because what happens to us during the night is totally different and sometimes even truer than what we perceive in the day, says Andrea. Just like dreams, their music is able to gently caress and soothe, but also to hurt with its brutal urgency. ________________________ They're on the Indies Records label, the same label as Iva Bittova. I've recently started subscribing to e-music, one of the online music subscriptions services, which specializes in small and independent labels. They charge $10-$15 a month for unlimited mp3 downloads. I haven't successfully found any music I'm looking for, but it's a lot of fun to browse through the different labels. - --Valerie ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 13 Nov 2002 22:08:23 -0500 From: Robert Lovejoy Subject: Re: ZOOM Joke My favorite hot dog joke: What did the buddhist say to the hot dog vendor? I can find virtually nil on the net about her. "The multi-instrumentalist Stacy Briscoe has a long history of vocals, guitar, and piano. She is currently broadening her electronic horizons at the Berklee College of Music, focusing on the live performance of electronic music. Her forthcoming album, Deluge, features live-recorded works of original electronic tunes with her current band, Electricity. Electricity features live vocals, acoustic drums, electric violin, electric cello, trumpet, and guitar.
