I don't think I've written about them on this list, and I don't remember them being mentioned. They were responsible for one of the most memorable concerts of my long gigging career, at Ronnie Scott's about 4-5 years ago. And their second album Spinning is a desert island disc, especially the last 4 tracks. I loved Fools Give Birth To Angels (which I think is the one you were talking about), though I wasn't sure about the "official" release the same year, Shift - I didn't think the production, heavy on electronics and sequencing, worked for them, and it seemed to usher in the end of their wonderful partnership. I saw Pooka a few times, and they were never less than great, creating an astonishing power with just two acoustic guitars and out-there harmonies on songs like Mean Girl, and lulling us with quiet beauties like City Sick and Higher. Azeem in London NP: Katrina & The Waves' first album, which I must have not listened to for well over ten years - it holds up suprisingly well. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 22 Oct 2002 20:07:06 +0100 From: ebgb@textmode.net Subject: Tori on UK TV Tonight 'lo ectofolk. Just heard that Tori Amos is one of the guests on V. Graham Norton on Ch.4 at 2200h this evening. Should be interesting! :) G. - -- To overcome evil with good is good, to resist evil by evil is evil. According to sd-6.com, it was "Stay", by Michelle Featherstone. ============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth ============================================== Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://muzak.smoe.org ============================================== ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V8 #295 **************************
