I'm just this moment listening to radioparadise.com playing Dead Can Dance's "Towards the Within", and they streamed Tori's "Gold Dust" and some Delerium a little bit ago, so they definitely qualify. :) For a more electronica/trance fix, digitallyimported.com also has some nice 128kbps streams. I'll give radioio.com a listen, thanks for the tip! Innocence Mission's "Not Fly Away" was prominent in the background of one scene, when Sydney, Will and Francie are talking in their kitchen. Sydney Bristow is not only a kickass babe, but she's also got impeccable taste in music. ============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth ============================================== Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://muzak.smoe.org ============================================== ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Oct 2002 23:44:15 -0400 From: JulieB Subject: Pooka! I eventually got a copy of pooka's self-produced album, then today I got an email from Sharon Lewis (the brunette, I feel bad I matched the names to the wrong girls) who saw a note from me on Ecto through google! Anyway, Sharon is pursuing a solo career, and she's got a site up now at http://www.sharonlewis.net She's also got an easy way to order the last album, which I highly recommend! I will relay more information as I get it. I'd love to set up Kym at one of these Ecto Living Room concerts, but I just don't think there's going to be the time at this point, though any suggestions to the contrary are welcome. In any case, if you are in New York next week and want a rare opportunity to see an amazing performer, please stop in. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Oct 2002 22:15:19 -0700 From: Steve VanDevender Subject: innocence mission music on tv meredith writes: > Hi, > > I've posted in the past about ectophilic music popping up in the tv show > _Alias_ -- well, last night it happened again. I knew I heard Karen Peris's voice in there somewhere. I also recall being struck by the song they played at the end of the episode while they were taking away Irina Derevko(?), but have no idea who it was by. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Oct 2002 22:27:31 -0700 From: Steve VanDevender Subject: post-Rasputina Rasputina has at least one more fan; I really enjoyed the show last night. The Gerlinger Lounge turned out to be a very appropriate location; its turn-of-the-century architecture fit right in with Rasputina's neo-Victorian imagery. Melora Creager is funny and very talented. Although she didn't introduce her other cellist and the drummer, having googled around for some background information I think they were K. Cowperthwaite and Jonathon TeBeest. I ended up buying _Cabin Fever_ and the _My Fever Broke_ EP; I've listened through _Cabin Fever_ and really like it so far. Someone, however, needs to smack the webmaster for rasputina.com around severely. It has got to be one of the least Lynx-friendly sites I have seen in a long time, and it's horribly slow to download all the GIFs in a graphical browser over a modem connection. This next weekend I think I will finally get to see a whole show of Land of the Blind (it's somewhat shameful that I've lived in Eugene all this time, but never went to see them during all the time they played down here fairly frequently) and for Halloween itself, Tympanic's playing again. n.p.: Tympanic, _Live From Eugene_ n.r.: Gene Wolfe, _The Shadow of the Torturer_ ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V8 #294 **************************
