I just had to tease you a little bit. :-) Please say hi to the boys in the band for me. Let's nail down a time to share that dinner together. Billi and I are up for it. On your Peter Gabriel question, the only song on the album that is poppy to me is "The Barry Williams Show". I like it better than most of his pop tunes such as "Big Time" or "Sledgehammer". It has an edgier and funkier type of feel. There are many excellent songs on the CD. The opening track, "Darkness", is very powerful. Other really strong songs are "No Way Out" and "Signal To Noise". I don't think that there is anything on the CD quite like "San Jacinto". My personal favorite is "Sky Blue". It is a really gorgeous song. To me it has a very spiritual feel akin to "San Jacinto". I immediately thought of R.E.M. But not ANI. ANI was UPx9 I believe which is enough of a difference that it didn't bother me. But having R.E.M.'s album be called the exact same thing did ring bells. > On Wed, 9 Oct 2002, Greg Bossert wrote: > "What You Feel" is the one that sounds the most "wrong" to me, since > there's no tap dancing, and the dialogue really was integral to the song. > And I really think that "Under Your Spell" should be a "breakaway pop > hit". I miss Tara! I do miss TARA and I am certainly interested in the rumor that AMBER is coming back in some nonTARA way. But in truth, as much as I liked TARA, I did think she was a rather useless character and if they are going to kill off a character it only made sense that they would kill her off. What I want to know is who they are going to kill off this season. After all, every season pretty much a major character has died. I'm guessing ANYA. > From: Craig Gidney > Claire Voyant's third cd sounds like > cross-between a less agressive Curve and a darker > Garbage. Speaking of ROBIN GUTHRIE. Can anyone tell me a little bit about VIOLET INDIANA and if the CD is worth getting? I do love the COCTEAU TWINS but I am not sure if it is because of LIZ FRASIER's voice or because of ROBIN GUTHRIE's guitar work. irvin ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 10 Oct 2002 03:48:17 -0400 From: "Sherlyn Koo" Subject: (Sort of) New Lisa Loeb album Hey folks, Very interesting. Lisa Loeb is changing record labels and releasing a new version of her album "Cake and Pie", which came out a few months ago. The new version will be called "Hello Lisa" and has a similar track listing (8 of the 12 songs from C&P, plus 3 others) and new artwork. Seems like a large reason for the change is the lack of support from her previous label - hopefully her new label will give her the support she deserves. It's an interesting tactic though... has anybody ever done this before on such a short timeframe? I think "Cake and Pie" only came out in May or June. Once I finally hunt down that the link it spawns another window - wasn't the original window good enough?!? They don't seem to think so, but I beg to differ; this new window is much smaller than mine was, it doesn't resize to my liking and worst of all, it hides all controls from me (something I hate!). THEN instead of using perfectly functional scroll bars that come with every browser window it substitutes its own scrolling, done with DHTML, layers or whatever - providing exactly the same functionality except it never works quite as well or as fast as the regular scroll bar would. Oh screw this! The music might be great but I'll never know, thanks to the idiot who designed their site... Total thumbs-down. Try this site instead: http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/34/claire_voyant.html BTW, as a web designer who works exclusively with plain ol' HTML, I have twice been replaced by clients who decided they wanted something with lots of Shockwave, animation, etc. Both times, the clients came back to me when they discovered that the number of hits & customer response to their flashier sites were dramatically lower than they had been with the plainer but apparently more user-friendly sites I'd designed for them in the first place. - --Sue ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 10 Oct 2002 16:14:23 -0400 From: "Carter Bailey" Subject: Terami's upcoming L.A. shows!!
