As Jeff mentioned, we were mighty impressed with Myshkin at Folk Alliance. She's part of a collective called the Little Red Hens, whose best known members are the Be Good Tanyas (though Libby Kirkpatrick has also receieved some mention around here). The Hens aren't a group of any sort that I can tell. Just a collective that tries to help each other out. But Myshkin has this occasional band called the Road Dog Divas, and they were even more fun then Myshkin solo. The last night of Folk Alliance, I hung out all night with the Little Red Hens and the Bill Hilly Band, and it was one of the most magical nights of music. I'd highly recommend seeing anyone associated with the collective. neal np: Never Could Walk The Line - Eric Hisaw ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 2 Oct 2002 01:26:59 -0600 From: Jessica Byers Subject: Re: Myshkin I vaguely knew she was at Folk Alliance, but I didnt see her there. Her new CD, Rosebud Bullets, is great, you should get it ( I have not heard earlier ones). I looked her up and she does now live in Portland and is planning to focus more on the western US (and Europe I guess). So you'll get her eventually. And I might get her to Missoula in the spring. S/T album Hi, all-- I've got a backlog of new discs that I should write to you all about, but today I finally received a replacement copy of Suddenly, Tammy's first self-titled album which somehow got misplaced or loaned out from our collection. After looking for it and hoping it would turn back up for a couple of months, I finally ordered it from a seller on gemm.com. So I'm playing it again for the first time in quite a while, and damn I still love it. There's something so delightful and tilty and fresh about it. Their second album for one of the majors didn't work for me, but this one, this one... Well, it's a classic in my books, though probably not for every taste since the songs have slightly unconventional structures/timing. I wonder if Beth Sorrentino will record again? I sure hope so. Her style is unique and wonderful. - --Neile ------------------------------ Date: 03 Oct 2002 02:28:17 +0200 From: Kjetil Torgrim Homme Subject: Re: Suddenly, Tammy!
