For your informational pleasure, we are happy to announce that RACHAEL SAGE will be performing with the one-and-only DEAN SHARP (drums/percussion) and the lovely-and-talented STEPHANIE WINTERS (cello) at the following venues in the next few weeks. These will be Rachael's last trio full-length shows for a while, so we really hope to see some of y'all & if you have friends in the area, we'd be grateful if you'd spread the word! The "Illusion's Carnival Tour" is slowly winding down as we ease unwillingly into chillier weather (it was a summer-fall record so according to Rachael "it just wouldn't make sense to perform these tunes in the snow..."). Perhaps Rich should book her a tour in Hawaii in December/January (hint hint). Does anyone know anything about the new Shivaree album, Rough Dreams? It was scheduled to be released on the 10th, but I don't see it anywhere. All the online stores have an import version listed. Did they move to Europe or something? I thought they were an American band. The website still has the 10th listed as the release date. I listened to the first single there, and it sounds great, and makes me want the album even more. I got Ani DiFranco's latest yesterday, the double live cd So Much Shouting, So Much Laughter, but only got to listen to the first 3 songs on the first disk. Lots of horns. Should be interesting mix of old and new. I've loved 2 of the albums that came out since Living in Clip and have liked only a handful of songs from the other 2. I was waiting for it, went to the local indie CD store to order it the day before it came out (they place their orders noon Monday) and it had dissapeared. I can't track down any information on whether or not it will be rescheduled or if the American release was just quietly shelved or what. And, dammit, I was waiting for this one. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 20 Sep 2002 17:27:19 -0400 From: Jeff Wasilko Subject: Re: Vienna Teng East Coast dates (9/27-9/29) On Fri, Sep 20, 2002 at 10:28:23AM +0000, Vienna Teng wrote: > Hi all - > > Sorry to self-promote, but I thought I'd post where I'll be playing when I > zip over to New England next weekend. It9s a great CD featuring a collection of covers and originals. You should check it out! Here is what some people have been saying: 3So you're one of those cats that digs all different kinds of uncateogorizable shit, eh? You like that downtown, up tempo, freaked out, slo-mo, get down jazzy sound, just as much as you like to float around on soft, amorphous pads of chill loops and beats, soothing female vocals and sexy live instrumentation. Prepare to meet your new favorite band.2 - -Heckler Magazine 3I can9t say enough about this record. When I realized the artist was Joy Askew, I nearly fell over. I've been a big fan of hers. Anyway, this record is so melodic and beautiful, but also very contemporary. It's one of those records that you can play for everyone...with complete confidence that they'll like it. It's perfect for Sunday morning coffee OR the backdrop at your next big corporate party. Run, don9t walk. Buy this record!!!2 A NY Music Fan 3I was pretty surprised to like this CD not being much of an electronica fan. But upon listening, it is as much a jazz record as electronica. The 3covers2 are great, really more reinterpretations of such standards as 3Girl >From Impanema2 and 3Night and Day2, I was most struck with the pathos of the original songs, notably 3Sparks From A Wheel2 and 3Can9t Walk Away.2 I really recommend this CD especially if you have been getting into Norah Jones or the Verve Remix CD2 rigamrole Checkout the newly designed website featuring Echo pages at: www.joyaskew.com websites where you can buy the CD: www.amazon.com www.towerrecords.com www.bestbuy.com Enjoy!
