I won't paste the whole thing here, just the intro and the link. Jess ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ On August 18th, 2002 The New York Times Magazine ran an article written by David Hadju entitled, "Queer As Folk." Yay! I've been waiting for this one > for a while--anyone heard it yet? Thoughts? There will > be some album release parties in LA, St. Louis, Austin, > and tour dates are up for her UK tour (and record release > parties in the U.S.) at www.alisonmoyet.com I've had the album for a week or so and it really hasn't sunk in that much. I think I might have to listen to it more, but after all the hype and all that I have read about it, it's not quite the amazing brilliant diva album that I thought it was going to be. Sure there are some trip hop beats here and there, and Alison's brilliant voice sounds, well sounds like Alison's brilliant voice. But on the whole I've been ho hum about it - but I think it is going to grow on me, because I keep coming back to it. I was expecting it to be more in a trip hop downbeat circa 1999 sound I guess. It has some of those elements, but it's more moody than that I guess. It's more interesting to me than the new SINEAD album, but I'm not one for celtic songs anyway, and SINEAD's album of traditional celtic songs just bored me. > From: Paul2k@aol.com > > Lisa Germano has another show coming up at the end of this month at Largo in > L.A. And then she releases a new cd in October. Oooh new LISA album! Thanks for the heads up! I went to LISA's website www.lisagermano.com and just as an FYI, the OCTOBER release mentioned above is actually two different CD's and they aren't the NEW studio album that is going to be released. The first one is called CONCENTRATED and is a best of album culled from previous albums (or as she calls it, all the BIG HITS from existing records) as well as some demos. 21 tracks. I wonder if she is going to include THESE BOOTS ARE MADE FOR WALKING? Heh. Both albums are available on her site, as well as an album that she produced. The second release is called RARE, UNUSUAL, OR JUST BAD SONGS, which is pretty much self explanatory - all random songs that have never been released. BUT in JANUARY, apparently LISA is releasing a new studio album called LULLABY FOR LIQUID PIG. Whoo hoo! I can't wait. You can download a two songs from her website - go to her "discography" section and click on LULLABY FOR LIQUID PIG, and download them. They sound very LISA, nothing groundbreaking or radically different from anything she's done in the past. Faboo. By the way has anyone picked up the album by CHITLIN' FOOKS? It's the country side project by CAROL VAN DIJK from BETTIE SEVEERT. Apparently there is a new BS album coming out soon in the new year, but in the meanwhile, CAROL has released one album by CHITLIN'S FOOKS, and is ready to release a new next month. Anyone heard it, and can tell me if it is worth getting? I love CAROL's voice, and I really like BS, but I'm not so much into country, unless it's alt country/no depression stuff like UNCLE TUPELO sort of stuff, and even then I can only take it in pretty small doses. Directors do put their own stamp on things, and, writers don't always approve.... Nothing new there. JP truly has his own style. The main difference was that it was much less clever and much more tame, the released version. The directors cut would have blown a few minds too many probably. I liked it much much better... How did the show go tuesday night? Can I buy or trade for a CD, please????? Cheers Birdie ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V8 #258 **************************
