Welcome back. Save your money! :) And about the Buffy "Once More With Feeling"...I read somewhere (it might have been in Entertainment Weekly) a little blurb containing some of that press release Meth posted. It also noted that there will be a reprise in an upcoming episode involving a flashback to the musical episode where Anya sings a new number. What, you want actualy ecto content? geeze, ok....um...I saw Juliana Hatfield at the Knitting Factory (L.A.) tonight. Ok show. She had Freda Love (Blake Babies, Mysteries of Life) on drums and Heidi Gluck on bass and backing vox. It's always tough to really enjoy a Juliana show because she's not the most comfortable and engaging performer. But I still like her. Tuesday, August 20 10:00pm sharp Bowery Poetry Club 308 Bowery (between Houston & Bleecker) New York City Please forgive any repeat mailings... ********************************* For Immediate Release August 1, 2002 FIELD RECORDING CO. TO RELEASE KATELL KEINEG'S NEW E.P. AND REISSUE HER CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED PREVIOUS ALBUMS AUGUST 20 WHAT'S THE ONLY THING WORSE THAN THE END OF TIME FOLLOWS CELEBRATED JET AND O SEASONS O CASTLES On August 20th, Field Recording Co. will release Katell Keineg's highly anticipated new E.P., What's the Only Thing Worse Than the End of Time. On the same day, the label also reissues Keineg's Jet and O Seasons O Castles, previously released albums that earned her tremendous critical acclaim and the loyal listenership she still enjoys. The four tracks comprising What's the Only Thing Worse Than the End of Time constitute a bold departure for Keineg, who has spent the last five years performing, traveling and writing. The new music traverses a broad spectrum of moods and sounds, ranging from the moving, major-chord gratitude of "Beautiful Day" to the E.P.'s plaintive, slow-burning title track, which is mixed by Bob Brockman (The O'Jays, Laurie Anderson). Co-produced by Dim Gurevich and Robbie Adams (U2, Smashing Pumpkins), the recording includes a live performance of "River Man," from a tribute to Nick Drake held at St. Ann's Church in Brooklyn, NY. Of that performance the New York Times said, "Ms. Keineg, a young songwriter due for her own cult, traveled the fine edge between rapture and loss essential to Mr. Drake's art." Field Recording Co. is also re-releasing Keineg's full-length album, Jet on August 20. Co-produced with Eric Drew Feldman (Captain Beefheart, P.J. Harvey), the album has been named one of the "greatest overlooked pop masterpieces of the decade" by Esquire and includes the single "One Hell of a Life." Also among Brooklyn-based indie Field Recording's August 20 Keineg offerings is a reissued O Seasons O Castles, which Elektra Records originally released in 1994. As Tom Moon wrote in the Philadelphia Inquirer, the album "had critics catching their collective breaths." O Seasons O Castles includes the song, "Gulf of Araby," which Natalie Merchant has recorded and performs live. Keineg spent her youth in Wales and Brittany and currently splits her time between New York and Dublin. She continues to attract listeners with her unwaveringly unique poetic and musical sensibility and her "nearly beautific sense of joy in performance" (Los Angeles Times). Since Bob Mould's SOL Records released Keineg's "Hestia" as a seven-inch single in 1993, her recordings have been consistently acclaimed stateside, in addition to the sizable and loyal international following she has long possessed.
