Anyway, for him and everyone else, here are some shows in that area, one at that same series. Do people here know Deb Talan or her former Portland band Hummingfish? I am actually curious about people who saw her perform with the band in those years. I didnt know of her until later when she moved to Boston and totally blew me and the rest of the Boston folk scene away. She's an amazing songwriter, kind of has an alt-folk-pop style... And I just saw on her site that she won the Telluride Troubabor contest this year. Anyway, if you;re in Colorado next week, go see her. Or if you're in the Northeast, where she plays much more often, see her there. I realized I have almost next to nothing in that area, but the sound has always appealed to my ears in a sort of meserizing way. Is anybody familiar with artists that would fall into the mixed category of that undefinable Ecto sound and traditional Japanese influences in the vein of the previously mentioned Incubus song, the sound of "Floating Museum" from the Ghost in the Shell soundtrack or perhaps something like Forbidden Colours by Ryuichi Sakamoto? (Although I love the music of Forbidden Colours, I feel the singing is too reminiscent of Spandau Ballet and detracts from the music.) Thanks for any help!
