I haven't heard it yet, but the reviews on this side of the pond have ranged from mediocre to just fantastic. Time Out London raved and raved about it. I'm looking forward to seeing her live in Southampton next month. I'm also looking forward to Linda Thompson's latest, which comes out here on Monday. (This week's Time Out London has an interview with her, btw.) I saw the Indigo Girls last night in Portsmouth; it was the first night on their third European tour this year. We go through a major drought, and now we had them three times in eight months! They apologised for not bringing along the band; they claimed they just couldn't afford it. However, the two of them were quite lovely; it was an unplugged set -- all acoustic instruments except for Emily's electric banjo. The Portsmouth venue was rather small -- 400 capacity. As of 1 PM yesterday when I'd called to ask about door and timing, I was told that they'd only pre-sold 250/400 tickets. I think they sold some more at the door last night, but it definitely wasn't sold out. I hope that doesn't prevent them from returning to southern England again; they played Brighton on an earlier tour this year. For those of us down south (if I go any further south, I'm swimming in the Solent :), it's nice to have another option besides London. They were feeling rather casual night and obviously were having fun. Amy was very wired; she blamed it on jet lag. :) The set list varied a bit from the last two times I'd seen them this year, so that was nice. They had a local open for them. I kind of yawned through Emma Mac's set. I'll be curious to hear, Adam, how Sarah Waters is on Saturday. They did mention the Union Chapel gig with Sarah Waters last night, promising that it would be really cool. ("We've had a meeting!" Amy exclaimed.) The acoustics were brilliant last night, which was a joy. Their last two London gigs have suffered from poor acoustics. Oh, and their producer (who is British) was in the audience last night.
