Connie Dover is making a video for our station for Plege week. We are setting up the studio now and she will do this next week (while I am out of town). She will sing a song (or two) and give a "support KTWU and PBS" speech in it. Kansas Citians can see it on cable. Don't know when it airs but we pledge Aug 9 through the 18th. I'll get to see the tape when I get back. bye, KrW Help wanted? Inquire within ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Jul 2002 23:27:16 -0400 From: meredith Subject: a bummer saved Hi, From the "well, that sucks" dept.: Michelle Shocked was supposed to play in New Haven tonight, for the first time in 10 years. woj and I were looking forward to going, but when he went to Toad's Place to pick up tickets yesterday he was told the show had been cancelled, with no reason given. :( All day today I poked around trying to a.) get confirmation from another source that the show was indeed off, since box office employees can be confused sometimes and b.) if so, find out why. I was unsuccessful on both counts, so I drove past Toad's this evening around the time doors were supposed to open and sure enough, the place was dark and locked up tight. So, if anyone has heard why the show tonight was cancelled, I'd be interested to know. I have a theory (oh god, that song from the Buffy musical is going to be dancing in my head all night again) that Toad's bagged it due to slow advance ticket sales, but I don't have any hard evidence to back that up. Still, all was not lost: this meant I could catch Anne Heaton's feature set at the open mic at The Space in Hamden. She had car trouble coming up from New York and was thus very late, but when she did arrive she played a short yet sweet set of old and new songs. It'll be fun to see her with Live From New York at Falcon Ridge this weekend, too. (Oh my god, I just posted something to ecto in a timely fashion!) (I'll let woj talk about Kristeen Young's duet with David Bowie. That's leftover from last week.) ============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth ============================================== Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://www.smoe.org/meth/muzak.html ============================================== ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Jul 2002 23:48:40 -0400 From: Jeff Wasilko Subject: Pre-order of Aimee Mann's new CD is available if you pre-order, you'll get a bonus single: - ----- Forwarded message from Jill Weisenfeld ----- From: "Jill Weisenfeld" To: mannlist@lists.cc.utexas.edu Subject: Pre-order from Aimee is live now Date: Tue, 23 Jul 2002 20:46:09 -0400 Reply-To: jillpw@hotmail.com You can now pre-order the album from Aimeemann.com.
