But the way I see it, it's still her rules. She signed > her rights over to her label. From a court's point of view, her > wishes are her label's wishes... Tell that to Michael Jackson and Sony. Or to Aimee Mann. Or to Robert Fripp and EG. Or... Um.. would that be the Michael Jackson that repeatedly used the Beatles catalog as collateral to take out loans from Sony and others to finance his 'off the wall' lifestyle? The one that took 10 years to come out with a new album, which Sony reportedly spent over $40 million to promote (this would work out to about $8 per CD sold) which then had dismal sales compared to his previous work? Michael blames it's low sales on poor promotion, but let's be serious, how much promotion does someone with Jackson's fame really need? Do people see a new MJ album out and not buy it because they aren't familiar with his music? Or maybe it was the one who reportedly had Sony put up millions of dollars for him to remaster his back catalog, over and over and over (he reportedly remastered some songs 20 times before he was satisfied)? Or the one that calls Tommy Mottola, whose last wife was part black, and current wife is Mexican, a racist? Take a look at pictures of Jackson 30 years ago and now.. umm.. yeah.. ok. Sure there are plenty of artists who've gotten the worst end of a record company deal, but I don't think I'd lump Jackson in with them. /me puts on another Thalia CD.. they're devillishly good, you know... };-) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Jul 2002 09:31:47 -0400 From: "Foghorn J. Already done: http://home.earthlink.net/~foghornj/vhpbcd2.pdf I have an alternate PDF made with higher resolution images, but it's 14 Meg and not something everyone will need to download. I can print copies of this on my photo quality inkjet printer, although I might tone down the blue background (the flat blue, not the blue in the painting), to save ink. Obviously it would be more cost efficient to send a bunch of copies to the distributing country roots than individually to all the leaves. Contact me to discuss further. They'll also find a long lost LP for you. I've used CDbbq a few times this summer and the CDs they've made for me came out flawlessly. If I had the time and talent, I'd digitalize my LPs myself, but I don't have that skill -- and besides there's no room in my office for even one more wire. To comply with copyright laws, CDbbq will not convert an LP to CD that you don't own or purchase through them. Anyway, if there's something you own --or want to own-- and it's not available on CD, you might want to check out www.cdbbq.com. The service isn't cheap, but as the commercial goes, Your Favorite Albums: Priceless. - --Bill n.p.
