I am looking for a house concert in Seattle for Saturday night, the 17th, Neil? Anyone? It would just be 2 of us, more Celtic-slanted then what anyone saw with the full Blind. Let me know asap, I am thinking only 20 folks or under, I have a lot of fans up there. thanks, cyo > O'Manion Music PO Box 198 Mill Valley, CA 94941 cyo@landoftheblind.com http://www.landoftheblind.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 19 Jul 2002 12:48:04 -0700 From: Troy J Shadbolt Subject: When I Go - Dave Carter For those that may be interested. I do not have any more details. Oh my god. Just this afternoon I looked at the freshly-posted Falcon Ridge schedule and thought "hey cool, Dave and Tracy got a prime evening main stage slot. Good for them!" I was looking forward to seeing them perform again next weekend. This is just stunning ... Add this news to the fact that my friend who was supposed to come visit this weekend just called to say that her flight was irretrievably cancelled due to the thunderstorms infesting the eastern U.S. right now and thus she is staying home, and the network jack on my laptop just died (I'm borrowing woj's computer now), and the Yankees/Red Sox game is in rain delay, and I've got a pretty crappy start to the weekend. :P My thoughts go out to Dave Carter's family. Falcon Ridge is going to be a bit sadder this year, I'm thinking. I've been a fan since Porcelain, and was quite saddened when she seemed to be thrown under the bus by her record companies of late. Despite being a long-time fan, I'd never seen her live and I had no idea what to expect. Wow. Not only is she a great singer and performer, but she's wicked funny. She told some great stories about events that helped create some of her new songs. "Italy" was inspired by a waiter in Italy when she was visiting with her family. She also talked about how India.Arie had come to her house for a tea party, and India insisted that Julia sing "Concrete Love" at which point India sung a wonderful harmony. They ended up re-recording the song to add India's harmony. The other funny story was about the Portugese verse in "Genius". Apparently a fan from Brazil flew up to NY this past week to see Julia. The fan gave Julia roses, they chatted for a while and Julia finally asked the Portugese woman what she thought of Julia's Portuguese in "Genius". The woman replied "Not so good!". Julia was joined for the first time in the tour by a guitarist who played electric guitar/Roland guitar synth to nice effect. He was still getting comfortable with the songs, but was obviously very good. Julia mentioned she was going to be playing Saturday at a Border's Books/Music, but she wasn't sure where (and I can't load up the web site since I can't run flash from here)..... Anyway, here's the set list: Falling Forward Girlfriend Italy Missing Man Concrete Love Genius The I Wanna Song Porcelain Love Lovin' You Roadside Angel Happy Ever After Stay **** Encore Something Right Manhattan Skyline - -jeff ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V8 #201 **************************
