There was a segment on their new >album RABBIT SONGS on All Things Considered yesterday, and it gave me one >of those rare "hearing something so beautiful on the radio that I almost >drove off the road" experiences. So that's who that was!! I missed the part where they were actually introduced. It was definitely tasty-sounding. Now that I know who they are, I will have to check them out further. Speaking of NPR, Heather Nova was on All Things Considered this evening. Alas I only caught the last ten seconds of it. Fortunately, it's now online at http://www.npr.org/ramfiles/atc/20020715.atc.20.ram. And speaking of tasty-sounding new stuff, thanks to Jason Gordon last week we discovered an intriguing outfit called AwRY. Their CDs can be found on cdbaby, and their web site is http://www.awrysense.com. The group is essentially the project of Shara Worden, another trained opera singer who went, well, awry somewhere along the way. We saw her perform solo in Hamden last week, and it was amazing. It's very minimalist Lower East Side stuff, with lovely vocals. What else ... oh yeah, Kristeen Young is back in New York City this month, this time with full band (bass, drums, guitar)! She does the first of four consecutive Thursday nights at CBGB this week. Grab your earplugs and come down and join us. I'm so behind with writing up shows I've been to, I'm about to give up. But suffice it to say that if you get the chance to see Erin McKeown with her band, don't pass it up for ANY reason. She's great solo, but with the band ... oh my god. They keep getting exponentially better every time we see them, and it's starting to get rather scary. They will all be at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in two weekends -- ecto roll call! If you're going, please let me know. Maybe we can ecto-camp. ============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth ============================================== Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://www.smoe.org/meth/muzak.html ============================================== ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V8 #197 **************************
