I actually knew him in high school (or really his sister more) and was really surprised to see he has two CDs out, one with Norah Jones on it. He's also on Suzanne Vega's 9/11 songs CD. Anyone have that? I havent hear the music and am curious what people here might have to say. He just played at Passim this week and is playing a show in London on Saturday, July 20th at the Twelve Bar Club. Here's a blurb: "Noam's first American release to feature less than nine songs, "Above the Music" stars David Berger on drums, Dave Richards on bass, Jimi Zhivago on guitar & keyboards, Greta Gertler & Norah Jones on vocals, Todd Londigan on trombone, and Pete Martinez on clarinet. It was produced by Jimi Zhivago and recorded & mixed at Loho Studios by Pete de Boer." see http://www.enoam.com - -Jess ------------------------------ Date: 10 Jul 2002 19:56:39 +1000 From: andrew fries Subject: Re: Webcasters go underground On Wed, 2002-07-10 at 01:28, carnivore@att.net wrote: > "The 39-year-old McLeod, a game designer who works out > of his home in England, is the author of Streamer, a new > software program designed to let people create online > radio stations that are difficult for the authorities to > trace." This Streamer sounds like a pretty good idea whose time has come! (btw you'll find it at ) It would be cooler still if there was a non-windoze version, but it's a start... so, who wants to start the first Ecto Streamer?... Vickie... ? She's a British crime/mystery writer who was shortlisted for the Orange Prize recently. Betting critics thought that her most recent novel, *Fingersmith*, was going to win the Orange Prize, but it didn't. I haven't read that one (it's gotten good reviews), but I've read *Tipping the Velvet*, an earlier novel. Her books are well written adventures into lesbian Victoriana. I'm reviewing her CD for a webzine with an American editor. (I write for a couple of webzines.) At any rate, since I already have the CD, he just sent me the PR. It's out in the US on 30 July, so be on the lookout. Ellen ===== "Literature stops in 1100. After that, it's just books." - -- JRR Tolkien Sign up for SBC Yahoo! That's Sarah Waters, but I second the recommendation! (Particularly for "Affinity", which is a truly tragic novel). peter ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 10 Jul 2002 10:18:13 -0700 (PDT) From: Ellen Rawson Subject: Re: Pina, and an Indigo Girls mystery - --- "Mr. P. I replied the way I did because today's *Time Out* ad for the show said Sarah Waters, and so I had Sarah in my head -- forgot to question Susan vs. Sarah. Of course, it also said Shepherd's Bush there, whereas, as Adam said, the gig listing still says Union Chapel. Who knows? :) Ellen ===== "Literature stops in 1100.
