How cool is this???? One of fusion's most ... dangerous bands crashes back into in the studio in September! The East Village trembles in anticipation of the upcoming sessions at Dangerous Music Studios on Manhattan's lower east side. The record will be recorded using the finest analog equipment. There may be a super HI-FI special edition recorded direct to lathe (no tape, no digital) available on vinyl or CD! Escape TV will film the sessions for a "making of" DVD. The core band will again be very international: Hansford Rowe - bass (an American living in Montreal) Bon Lozaga - guitar (an American living in NJ) Benoit Moerlen - vibes and marimba (a Frenchman living in Alsace) Gary Husband - drums (an Englishman living in London) Hansford has just finished recording bass on several tunes from the upcoming Happy Rhodes CD. He played the "St-Jean" (Quibec's national holiday) Festival with a new Quibecois singer-songwriter he is producing named Antoine Bouchard. In July Bon is doing acoustic guitar shows with Scott McGill all month. Bon will also be recording some tunes for Happy Rhodes this summer. Benoit arrives from France in mid August to begin preparations for the Gongzilla CD. Gary has been busy with many projects (www.garyhusband.com) including the Billy Cobham "Spectrum" Anniversary concerts and a Level 42 re-emergence. Check out www.lolorecords.com for more on Gongzilla. The full scoop on this is at http://www.rivertorivernyc.org. Apparently tickets are on a first-come, first-served basis only, to be handed out starting at 5 pm. Only two tickets will be given per person. Needless to say, this makes things rather difficult for those who may want to come from out of town (like me and woj) ... We'll figure it out somehow. ============================================== Meredith Tarr New Haven, CT USA mailto:meth@smoe.org http://www.smoe.org/meth ============================================== Live At The House O'Muzak House Concert Series http://www.smoe.org/meth/muzak.html ============================================== ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 09 Jul 2002 10:39:24 -0400 From: Yale Journal of Biology and Medicine Subject: More NYC activities: Robin Holcomb, Joe's Pub, July 30 After hearing about the new Robin Holcomb CD (be still my heart), I checked out her page at the Nonesuch Records site. We saw Vienna Teng at the The Blue Rock Shoot in lovely downtown Saratoga. The place is a hip little espresso shop and hang out for students and the locals. The back room setting was great place to see Vienna. It held about 40 people. It was a comfortable and intimate setting to see her perform. Phil Hudson was there along with Karen Hester. Karen was in town visiting from New Zealand. She has been traveling all over for the past month. It was very nice to meet Karen and spend some time with her. Phil is alive and well and sends his love to all of you. Phil is the one that clued me into the fact that Vienna was playing that night. It was very nice to spend a little time talking with Vienna. She seemed very excited and appreciative to have some Ecto folk at her show. She is a very charming, witty and articulate women. She seems quite confident but also has a humbleness to her demeanor. Vienna's performance was brilliant and, at times, quite magical. She has a such a beautiful and clear voice. For me, it is her incredible piano playing and her lyrics that bring her songs to life. Her playing ranges from very delicate and mesmerizing to extremely powerful. I am very bad with remembering song titles. I would like to tell which songs stood out. That is difficult because they all were wonderful. For a point of reference, I can see a little bit of Tori and Sarah influence in her music. However, I really feel that she has transcended her influences and has her own unique vision and style. For you SF Bay Area Ectophiles: Vienna will be playing a house concert in Fremont on Saturday July the 20th. Billi and I would be going to see her again if we didn't already have tickets to see Yes that night. Here is the URL for info on the house concert: http://home.attbi.com/~webrask/ Love to you all! I hope that you are having a fun summer! The cuts have gone deep at my company and I didn't survive the current round (4th round). I have started to network with my friends and associates to find referrals to a company that might be interested in my talents. I have created an on-line version of my resume. Any help from any of you would be greatly appreciated. Here is the URL: http://wpm03.topcities.com/resume/wpmres01.html Thanks in advance for any help that you can provide! Subject: Pina, and an Indigo Girls mystery Hi, Ellen -- when you said "She reminds me a little of Melanie." about Pina, I think you hit it on the head -- can't think why I didn't hear it myself. As for the Indigo Girls gig...something very strange is happening. Time Out have been billing it as a Union Chapel gig. This week, however, they carry a large ad for it...at Shepherds Bush Empire. Meanwhile, in their listings, they still have it at Union Chapel. When I booked it -- through Stargreen -- I said Union Chapel, and there was no correction. I don't really want to trail all the way out to Shepherds Bush again -- one of the reasons the Union Chapel appealed to me is that it's within walking distance to me. Mmmm..... And, for our American cousins, a question: Who is Susan Waters? The gig is billed, in the Shepherds Bush ad, as an evening of music and words, with "author Susan Waters". Anyone know? adam k. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 9 Jul 2002 18:26:25 -0400 From: "dave" Subject: spam spam baked beans and spam I've been getting those mortage spams too, always coming from an address with the same ISP as me and with the reply to being another address at my ISP. Looks like they're spoofing the addresses. I'm guessing they've gotten a few addresses from this list since several of us are getting it, I'm genererally spam free, and this is one of the few places I use this address. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 10 Jul 2002 00:20:09 -0500 (CDT) From: kerrywhite@webtv.net (kerry white) Subject: Re: spam spam baked beans and spam Hi, Mine was to my work address only and picked on a coworker as the "From".
