I am for the most part a lurker on this list and I have found quite a bit of great music from subscribing this list. Anyway just wanted to ask if anyone has listened to Charlotte Martin? She is based in LA and her website is www.charlottemartin.com (she has about 5 songs posted for download) I like her music immensely, so I thought I would share, She may not be to everyone's liking. Some compare her to Tori Amos, esp. Choirgirl Hotel sound, but she rocks a bit more. Her sampler is constantly playing in my house and car. Also I have found Cara Dillon. She is from Ireland and has a beautiful voice. Website is http://www.caradillon.co.uk/ and there are a few songs posted there as well. If someone has already mentioned these 2 ladies before on this list, I do apologize to you! I just wanted to come out of the shadows for a minute and throw in my 2 cents. I have discovered wonderful music from reading this list, thanks to all with the recommendations. I appreciate these insights. I have found the Happy Rhodes CDs my wife and I are listening to very amazing. My perspective is there's nothing wrong with being primarily a recording artist. Because of the ethereal range of Happy's voice I though perhaps maybe Happy Rhodes was more effective on disc. I'd define a "recording artist" as someone who has elements of their artistry enhanced and even improved though the mediation of technology. Before these responses it wasn't clear to me what you are all saying, that Happy Rhodes recordings are capturing something that is naturally there. I was wondering, does anyone know if Mary Margaret O'Hara is performing anywhere right now? If so, where? It's great that she's got a new record out. I can't wait to get my copy.
