I'm interested to hear from people on this list how the experience of hearing a Happy Rhodes CD might differ from a live performance by her of her music. As one example, is her extraordinary vocal range more amazing to hear in person live, or perhaps not? They are Blame Sally; made up of four singer-songwriters (Pam Delgado, Renee Harcourt, Jeri Jones and Monica Pasqual) who actually make up a real band (piano, guitars, bass, percussion and tons of vocals). It's the vocals that will really appeal to the ectophile! Four women and tight, sharp harmonies. All four trade off lead vocals and songwriting. Right now they only have a single CD out, Live #1, which was recorded at Ex'pression Center for New Media in 2001. But it's a great example of what these women can do. If you like Voices on the Verge, this will totally blow them out of the water in that this a cohesive unit, not a group sort-of playing each others' songs. Check 'em out, you'll be glad you did. http://www.BlameSally.com - -troy - -- "I am the boards and the rusted nails, holding up this nation" - - Katharine Chase ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 11 Jun 2002 17:18:00 -0400 (EDT) From: dmw Subject: Re: Happy Rhodes On Tue, 11 Jun 2002, frank charleston wrote: > I'm new to ecto list... > > I'm interested to hear from people on this list how the experience of > hearing a Happy Rhodes CD might differ from a live performance > by her of her music. I heard her live for the first time about a year ago, after listening to her music for almost a decade. It sent shivers up my spine to hear what she could do. It's almost unbelievable that so much range can come from one person--and it looks so effortless as she does it. She doesn't play live often, but it's definitely worth going out of your way for. - --Neile >I'm interested to hear from people on this list how the experience of >hearing a Happy Rhodes CD might differ from a live performance >by her of her music.
