One particular album (well, really, one particular work) that I was desperately seeking was Billy Paul's _War of the Gods_ (synths galore, R&B, and even gospel all in one tune, if you can believe that). I found it in the USA at Music For A Song ("The nation's largest outlet entertainment retailer"), for the mind-blowing price of $7, as a cut-out of a french issue. So, Billy Paul records it in Philadelphia (I'm guessing), Sony Music distributes it in France, and I buy it in the US as a cut-out from a bragain bin retailer. Whew. Similar thing with Rick Wakeman's solo albums; it took a trip to Tokyo to find some of the gems such as _Rick Wakeman's Criminal Record_. - - Bill G. np: Billy Paul - War of the Gods (good stuff!). nr: (need to make the time to read). (Like it would be on Tuesday afternoon?!) It's on from 9 to 10:30am in the eastern US time zone, not sure about the other time zones, so check your listings. Her management did not specify if Patty would be singing, cooking a souffle or fishing on the Rio Grande, but I would imagine she is going to perform and perhaps be interviewed. I have not watched this show in quite some time, so I do not know if their musical guests just perform or if it goes beyond that. Anyone watch that show recently? Mike P.S. I would imagine she would sing her new song "Rain". For those of you who watch this Sunday and haven't heard that song, if she does perform it, you are in for a real treat! ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 May 2002 00:42:01 -0000 From: "neal copperman" Subject: Re: Patty Griffin on CBS Sunday Morning this Sunday morning Mike Connell said: > Her management did not specify if Patty would be singing, cooking a souffle > or fishing on the Rio Grande, She certainly wouldn't be fishing in the Rio Grande in Albuquerque (which is actually where she will be this weekend). There is hardly any water in it, and endless local debates about emptying a nearby lake to flood it in order to save some sort of minnow from extinction. Pretty much a moot point, as that water would all be gone soon enough anyway. Seems pretty sad that the Rio Grande can't even support minnows. But then again, just about every waterway in Arizona is dry land, so I guess I shouldn't be complaining; just a candid observation from someone who relocated from the Pacific Southwest, where there's water *everywhere*. In fact, just for the record, I'm not complaining, rather I am observing, as I do enjoy my life in the desert. :) (and further hate it when people who "live" here do nothing but bitch and moan about the heat and dryness; my answer to them always is: the airport is "that" way). - - Bill "Proud to live in Arizona" G. np: Antonio Carlos Jobim - Verve Jazz Masters 13 (compilation) On Tue, 21 May 2002 00:42:01 -0000, neal copperman wrote: >Mike Connell said: > >> Her management did not specify if Patty would be singing, cooking a souffle >> or fishing on the Rio Grande, > >She certainly wouldn't be fishing in the Rio Grande in Albuquerque (which is >actually where she will be this weekend).
