I said her previous album; I should have gone back another one. :) I liked some of the songs from *Crash Course*; "Magnolia Street" *is* brilliant. But it was a weaker album than the earlier one. > > I have similar feelings about the new Indigo Girls > album. It's really nice. It's pleasant. It's a > lot more than that. It's very good. And I like it so much better than their previous two because I like them as folkers not rockers. :) Of course, I've only listened to it once all the way through, so who knows what will happen with more listens. I'll be hearing them on Wed. night at the London Forum. And I hope to hear Pina this time -- she had horrible sound when she opened for them in January, and half the crowd was too busy listening to themselves talk anyhow. Ellen, who just wrote a review of Sally Taylor's *Apartment 6S* and basically said that the songs weren't good vehicles for her voice... that her voice carried the songs -- the songs alone aren't very strong. Does this mean that Happy's hand is fully mended now? Also, I just picked up Project Lo's Black Canvas for the ridiculously low price of 99 cents at Fry's (an electronics store in the SF bay area). On first listen it's not bad - certainly worth way more than 99 cents. For anyone in CT, I am playing this Sunday (bring your mom!) at 4 pm at the lovely Meth and Woj's house o' muzak. Unfortunately the other act scheduled had to pull out at the last minute, which is a bummer cause she rocks :( But that's ok. Anyway, i would definitely love to meet some of you if you can make it and/or see some faces I haven't seen in awhile. I have a new record coming out 5/15 and the buzz about it already has been phenomenal. Additionally I have lots of outside (read: industry) folks interested and life is getting interesting to say the least ;) I spent a year writing/practicing/writing/practicing and then recording, so if you saw me at Ectofest a few years ago, I'm not that girl anymore... this is one of the last times I'm going to be playing solo also... Have some new clips up on my site (see www addy below) and the most Ecto friendly song is probably "october". I hope some of you can make it... I'll be doing a 40 min. set and I really would appreciate your support. :) Thanks!! I've been wondering the same thing. On the basis of all the reviews I read, I purchased her first CD (now out of print), which was simply her demo tape packaged for retail sale. It was good, but my reaction did not match the critics' response. I've not heard her current studio release... maybe it's better than her TV appearances. >What am I missing? I figure, "eh I'll give her a try" because I saw that Jesse Harris (Once Blue) wrote some of her songs.
